The DTCC processes up to $4 quadrillion in settlements every year. That number is now part of the conversation around digital assets, and Ripple is sitting at the table. Digital Asset Investor (@digitalassetbuy) posted a video highlighting why XRP holders should pay attention to this scale of transactions.

The Scale of DTCC

Digital Asset Investor’s video featured a Chainlink executive who noted that all equities and stocks are cleared and settled through the DTCC, mandated by law.

The volume that runs through it annually is staggering. Digital Asset Investor pointed out that a core group of digital assets is expected to access this liquidity over time, with XRP among them now that Ripple is working with the DTCC.

Ripple’s Seat at the Table

When DTCC’s tokenization initiative went live, its list of key participating firms included Anchorage, BitGo, Circle, Fireblocks, Ondo Finance, and Ripple. That placement puts Ripple at the infrastructure level of institutional digital asset settlement, not on the periphery.

The DTCC’s public learning site also surfaced XRP in its collateral classification framework, with an AI-generated result from the NSCC risk margin guide applying a haircut to XRP as collateral. It signals growing institutional readiness within DTCC’s existing framework.

The IMF Connection

He referenced a June 2026 IMF document titled The Rise of Tokenization. It directly references the XRP Ledger, listing it among the permissionless blockchains on which banks are interested in issuing stablecoins.

Its author is Tobias Adrian, Financial Counselor and Director of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department at the IMF. He previously shared a stage with Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse in 2019, and Ripple has consistently appeared in institutional rooms that few private companies reach.

Washington Moves Toward Clarity

He also highlighted the current legislative environment. Coinbase’s chief policy officer confirmed that regulators on both the banking and market sides have already adopted rules that make sense for crypto. The CLARITY Act exists to make those policies permanent.

The bill still has critics, as Senate Democrats are attempting to block it due to President Trump’s interaction with cryptocurrencies. The president is expected to sit with senators at the White House to settle the remaining issues in the bill.

The Bottom Line

Ripple is now a confirmed participant in a tokenization infrastructure serving a market of up to $4 quadrillion. The IMF is naming the XRP Ledger, and regulators are closing in on permanent legislative clarity. These developments point toward a scale of institutional capital entering this space that the crypto market has not seen before.
