For many XRP holders, daily price movements have become the primary measure of success. While the token’s recent performance has frustrated investors, crypto commentator Austin Hilton believes focusing exclusively on price creates an incomplete picture of XRP’s long-term outlook.

He stressed that although he shares the disappointment about XRP’s current value, investors should also pay close attention to the growth across Ripple’s broader ecosystem.

Hilton explained on X that several key indicators continue to show progress despite weak market conditions. In his view, these developments provide a better understanding of XRP’s long-term potential than price action alone.

Seven Metrics That Reflect XRP’s Long-Term Development

Hilton identified seven areas that he believes deserve more attention from investors. The first is daily activity on the XRP Ledger. He noted that daily transactions have climbed to approximately 2.4 million, representing a 32% increase year-on-year. According to him, rising network activity signals growing real-world usage and demonstrates that the ecosystem continues to expand even during a difficult period for the cryptocurrency market.

He also pointed to the continued growth of Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin. Hilton highlighted its expanding market capitalization, additional exchange listings, increasing trading volume, and growing enterprise adoption. While he acknowledged that these developments do not immediately affect XRP’s market price, he said they strengthen the XRP Ledger by increasing liquidity and supporting greater utility.

Institutional adoption was another area Hilton described as important. He maintained that payment companies, asset managers, and Wall Street firms are paying increasing attention to Ripple’s technology and the role XRP could play within the financial industry. Although institutional participation has not yet translated into significant price appreciation, he believes it strengthens XRP’s long-term foundation.

Hilton also discussed tokenization, describing it as another major opportunity for the XRP Ledger. He noted that real-world assets, including real estate, government securities, stocks, private equity, bonds, and investment funds, are gradually moving onto blockchain networks. He believes the XRP Ledger is positioning itself to participate in that growing market.

Liquidity and Institutional Capital Remain Key Factors

Beyond ecosystem growth, Hilton emphasized that broader market liquidity continues to influence cryptocurrency prices. He explained that global liquidity conditions remain limited, preventing capital from flowing into digital assets at the pace many investors expected. However, he said he expects conditions to improve later in the year, particularly during the fourth quarter, making the October and November periods to monitor closely.

Hilton also highlighted the increasing presence of XRP investment products, including exchange-traded funds. While ETF inflows fluctuate alongside market conditions, he believes institutional capital tends to be more stable than retail investment and could gradually reshape supply and demand over time.

Developer activity completed his list of important indicators. Hilton pointed to continued work on applications, wallets, decentralized finance initiatives, stablecoin development, developer grants, hackathons, and new integrations across the XRP Ledger. In his opinion, expanding developer participation creates lasting value by strengthening the overall ecosystem.

Long-Term Growth Before Price Appreciation

Hilton concluded that investors should understand how market cycles typically unfold. He explained that adoption, network usage, ecosystem development, liquidity, and capital inflows generally trigger a price rally. Because of that sequence, he believes watching only the XRP chart can cause investors to overlook meaningful progress happening behind the scenes.

Although Hilton acknowledged that XRP could still experience additional downside if the broader cryptocurrency market weakens, he reaffirmed his long-term confidence in the asset. He encouraged investors to remain focused on adoption, utilization, and the continued expansion of Ripple’s ecosystem, maintaining that these factors provide a stronger indication of XRP’s future than short-term price fluctuations alone.
