@FlareNetworks has launched Flare Confidential Compute (FCC) on Songbird, its canary network, enabling smart contracts to verify sensitive institutional data without exposing the underlying figures onchain. The first live application is a Proof of Reserves check for @Hex_Trust's USDX stablecoin, making it the first stablecoin to use the technology.

How it works

FCC addresses the gap between public blockchain transparency and private institutional data by processing confidential inputs inside a registered Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) and returning a signed result that contracts can check before acting on it. The TEE is a sealed hardware enclave, meaning the computation runs in isolation and the raw data never surfaces onchain.

The machine generates its signing key inside the enclave at startup. That key remains inside the enclave and signs outputs using the machine's registered identity. A verifier contract checks the signature before other contracts can store or use the result.

Flare launched FCC on Songbird after the network accepted proposal STP.13 in July 2026.The initial TEE machines use Google Cloud confidential computing and are operated by the Flare Foundation. A mainnet deployment on Flare is expected to follow.

USDX: private reserves, public verdict

For USDX, Hex Trust provides reserve information from two sources: a public reserve amount and a restricted cash reserve amount. Flare Confidential Compute processes both inside a Trusted Execution Environment and checks the combined reserves against the amount of USDX circulating across the ecosystem.

Instead of putting those balances onchain, the system signs and publishes a result showing whether USDX is backed 1:1 or better. The private figures used to reach that conclusion remain undisclosed.

The result also has a direct role within Flare's ecosystem. USDX is used as collateral in the FAssets system on Songbird, and its feed is moving to the new reserve-based reference.

Flare already handles public information through the Flare Time Series Oracle (FTSO) and the Flare Data Connector (FDC). However, institutional information such as reserve balances, fund net asset values, collateral positions, credit data, and compliance records typically cannot be made public. FCC is designed to bridge that gap, potentially extending the model well beyond stablecoin reserves.
