Iris Rabaya Au, 37, of Irvine, California, has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for failing to report over $2.6 million in illegal income to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The case, brought by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California, centers on her role in supporting a wide-ranging fraud operation run by her former boyfriend, Adam Iza.
Au is the ex-girlfriend of Adam Iza, a cryptocurrency fraudster who called himself "The Godfather."Prosecutors stated that between 2020 and 2024, Iza fraudulently obtained Meta advertising accounts and credit lines, selling account access and earning millions of dollars in unreported income.
At Iza's direction, Au created shell companies and opened bank accounts that were used to move and spend proceeds from his crimes, according to her plea agreement.The money was used to pay approximately $1 million, mostly in cash, to Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies who provided private security for Iza.Funds were also used for the purchase or lease of luxury real estate, cars, jewelry and clothing, to pay for recreational activities for Iza and herself valued at nearly $10 million, and to acquire $16 million in cryptocurrency for Iza.
From 2020 through 2023, Au transferred more than $2.6 million from the business accounts into her personal accounts but did not report the money to the IRS.Prosecutors said Au established the financial network that allowed Iza to "move, spend and conceal millions of dollars in fraud proceeds" while personally benefiting from the money.
Au was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Percy Anderson, who also ordered her to pay $1.48 million in restitution and to forfeit a fleet of luxury and high-performance cars, designer handbags, and three sculptures, among other assets. The sculptures were associated with Iza's "Godfather" persona. Au had pleaded guilty in Los Angeles federal court in March 2025 to submitting a false tax return.
Iza is currently serving a 15-year sentence for an unrelated Bitcoin robbery and kidnapping case and faces sentencing on October 5 for his role in the fraud scheme.He pleaded guilty in January 2025 to conspiracy against rights, wire fraud and tax evasion.
