Gold perpetual futures on @Aster_DEX, settled in @worldlibertyfi's $USD1 stablecoin, have become the third most traded asset on the exchange, according to a post from BSC News. The post cites data from @MSBIntel showing the contract traded roughly $6.7 billion over the past month, placing it behind only $BTC and $ETH.
The figures come from the social media post and the cited analytics account. We have not independently verified them.
How USD1 became the settlement asset
The gold market is part of a broader tie-up between Aster and World Liberty Financial. Aster DEX and World Liberty Financial announced on April 6 that USD1 would become the exclusive settlement asset for all TradFi perpetual futures on Aster. The four initial markets were XAUUSD1 (gold), XAGUSD1 (silver), and two crude oil contracts, CLUSD1 and BZUSD1.
The structure differs from most rivals. Most perp DEXs settle trades in USDT, USDC, or a mix of stablecoins, while Aster chose a single settlement asset for its commodity products. According to CryptoAdventure, takers pay 1 basis point on USD1 pairs, while makers receive a 0.5 basis point rebate.
The relationship has since deepened. According to CryptoRank, World Liberty Financial and Aster jointly backed a later launch of USD1-denominated perps with 250M WLFI and 12.5M USD1 in liquidity. That rollout listed five RWA perp pairs: SpaceX, crude oil, gold, SanDisk and SK Hynix.
What it means for Aster and WLFI
If the reported volume holds, tokenized gold is now a core product on Aster rather than a side listing. It also gives $USD1 a concrete use case as a trading settlement asset. World Liberty Financial has positioned USD1 as a base layer for tokenized real-world assets within the Aster ecosystem.
Aster remains one of the larger venues in the sector. One October 2026 ranking put Aster's 7-day volume at $11.12 billion and 30-day volume at $65.68 billion. Measured against that monthly total, a $6.7 billion gold contract would represent a meaningful share of activity, though the two figures come from different sources and may use different methodologies.
Aster is also entering a crowded field. CryptoRank noted that the exchange is moving into an already competitive RWA perp trading space rather than creating a new category. Leveraged commodity products also carry high risk, and traders should check contract terms and liquidity before taking positions.
