HIVE Digital Technologies (Nasdaq: HIVE), a Canada-based Bitcoin miner and data center operator, has appointed Hubert Marleau as an independent director at BUZZ HPC.
The company, which trades on the Nasdaq and Toronto Stock Exchange, said Marleau will serve on the board of its wholly owned AI cloud and high-performance computing subsidiary.
Marleau brings more than 50 years of experience in Canadian capital markets. He co-founded Palos Capital Corp. and Palos Management Inc. and has served as governor of both the Montreal and Vancouver stock exchanges, chairman of the Toronto Stock Exchange Listing Committee, and a director of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada.

During his five-decade-long career, he has sat on the boards of more than 50 publicly traded companies in Canada and the United States and advised on numerous mergers, acquisitions, and financings, according to the company.
He currently serves as chairman and CEO of Nio Strategic Metals Inc. and as market economist at Palos.
The appointment is aimed at strengthening independent oversight as BUZZ HPC scales its sovereign AI infrastructure across Canada.
Executive Chairman Frank Holmes, who said he has known Marleau for 40 years, called the hire a move toward the kind of disciplined governance and capital allocation the business needs as it grows.
BUZZ HPC has closed more than $600 million in total contract value for GPU cloud deals year to date, with a demand pipeline exceeding $1 billion. Its largest single contract, a five-year, $350 million AI cloud services agreement signed in August, is being deployed at a facility in Merritt, British Columbia, powered by renewable hydroelectric energy.
The company is also an original signatory to Canada's Responsible Data Centre Development Principles, alongside Google, Microsoft, AWS, and Meta.
BUZZ HPC COO Craig Tavares is scheduled to speak at three sessions during ALL IN 2026, Canada's largest AI and technology conference, held September 16–17 in Montreal. The conference draws more than 6,500 attendees from over 40 countries, according to the organizers.
