Hyperliquid (HYPE) and Pepe (PEPE) Lead Weekly Crypto Gains as Wider Market Weakens
CryptoCompass editorial visual for markets coverage.

Hyperliquid's $HYPE token and $PEPE were among the strongest crypto assets over the past week, rising while much of the broader market came under pressure. Both tokens recovered after a correction, though the size of the gains varies depending on the data provider and the time of measurement.

HYPE and PEPE Post Gains Despite Market Pressure

CoinGecko data shows Pepe's price was up 15.30% over seven days at the time of its page snapshot, alongside a 1.80% decline over 24 hours, according to CoinGecko. Other trackers show a narrower move. FXStreet reported Pepe up 5% over seven days, while AMBCrypto said PEPE surged almost 15%, making it the second-largest gainer of the week.

For Hyperliquid, the range is similar. FXStreet put HYPE's weekly gain at 17%, the top of its weekly ranking, while AMBCrypto cited a gain of 16%. A separate weekly review put the rise at 14.5%, with HYPE at $87.68 based on CoinGecko prices. The wide spread of figures reflects different measurement windows, so the 10% weekly rise for both tokens should be read as an approximate, mid-range reading rather than a fixed number.

The moves came against a weak backdrop. FXStreet linked the renewed market weakness to a $6.3 billion hack on crypto exchange Binance, which triggered widespread liquidations. Even so, HYPE, PEPE and QNT posted strong gains while smaller caps saw heavy selling.

What Is Driving Each Token

Hyperliquid's advance has been tied to institutional news. HYPE gained momentum after a partnership between Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, and Trade[XYZ], which aims to bring regulated 24/7 perpetual futures markets to the United States using Hyperliquid infrastructure. FXStreet also pointed to growing institutional interest in its HIP-3 perpetual futures markets and expanding partnerships with traditional finance firms. AMBCrypto noted a break of a five-week downtrend, suggesting bullish momentum is returning.

For Pepe, the drivers appear more sentiment-based. The token posted similar gains the previous week after Coinbase founder Brian Armstrong tweeted a frog-themed Pepe meme. Arkham Intelligence reported wallets linked to Justin Sun holding around $51 million in PEPE after reported accumulation over 10 days. Using CoinGecko data cited by Benzinga, PEPE rose 5.5% over seven days while Dogecoin fell 5% and Shiba Inu dropped 6.5%, showing the token outperforming other large memecoins.

The divergence from the wider market is notable, but short-term rallies in a falling market can reverse quickly. Traders will watch whether HYPE can hold its break above the recent downtrend and whether PEPE can keep its gains if selling pressure across the market persists.
