Kaspero Labs (@KasperoLabs), a developer studio in the Kaspa (@kaspaunchained) $KAS ecosystem, has released kaspa-redteam, a testing tool designed to help developers find weaknesses in SilverScript contracts before they are deployed.
The tool goes beyond static code review. It signs hostile transactions and evaluates them against the consensus rules in rusty-kaspa, the Kaspa node software. It then flags cases where consensus accepts a transaction that an attack expected to be rejected. Developers can replay the exact transaction to investigate the flaw.
How kaspa-redteam Tests Contracts
According to the project's GitHub repository, the tool is run from the command line against a SilverScript file. Its documented options include a verbose mode that lists each attack, JSON output for continuous integration, and a replay command that re-judges saved findings. The current version listed is v0.2.0.
A post summarised on KuCoin News describes the tool as free and open source. It says kaspa-redteam first finds a legitimate spend for each contract path, then tries known attacks, with rusty-kaspa's own consensus code judging each result. Paths the tool cannot spend are reported as unexplored rather than safe, which means a clean run does not amount to proof that a contract is secure.
The same post cites a real example from a mainnet covenant called MinerDrip v1, which let a miner keep a second coin as a fee. It was caught in review and fixed in v2, and the tool is said to detect the bug in milliseconds.
Context: SilverScript and Kaspa Covenants
SilverScript is Kaspa's high-level smart contract language. According to the Silverscript language reference, it compiles directly to native Kaspa Script with no virtual machine or intermediate representation, and is designed for covenant spending conditions on layer-1 UTXOs. The same reference described it as experimental and limited to Testnet 12 as of March 2026. Kaspa's own FAQ describes covenants as programmable rules that govern how coins can be spent.
Kaspero Labs describes itself as an independent software studio focused on the Kaspa ecosystem, building tools for payments, wallets, analytics and security. It also built SilverScript Studio, a web-based IDE for writing and deploying Kaspa covenants, according to its GitHub page.
As covenant-based applications develop on Kaspa, tools that test contracts against real consensus rules may give developers an additional check. The tool is intended to assist review rather than replace audits.
