Litecoin (LTC) is showing a strong recovery from its June low, supported by a surge in technical momentum and growing volatility. TradingView data places Litecoin at $71.82, marking a significant rise from its previous consolidation range.

Technical momentum increases

According to market analyst More Crypto Online, Litecoin appears to be forming an ABC recovery pattern within a broader triangle structure after completing a wave C decline in June. The analyst noted that while Litecoin has advanced beyond its initial resistance, this move remains within the boundaries of the triangle formation, limiting the potential for a structural breakout.

The price has broken above the 20-day simple moving average at $58.18 and the upper Bollinger Band near $71.73, with the rally briefly touching $73.43. This short-term momentum has fueled a steep upward move, yet More Crypto Online cautioned that such a rally alone does not confirm a long-term bullish trend. The larger triangle structure may cap upside below $410, suggesting a prolonged period of consolidation before any major shift.

Litecoin’s recent surge remains within the confines of a larger triangle pattern, which might imply continued consolidation despite strong short-term momentum.

The Bollinger Bands have widened noticeably compared to July and August, indicating heightened volatility. The daily momentum is also backed by a stronger MACD indicator, with the MACD line at 5.01 above the signal line at 3.32, and a growing green histogram on the daily chart.

Despite these technical indicators signaling robust demand, analysts warn that extended rallies combined with increased volatility often open the door to sharp pullbacks or a period of sideways consolidation.

Mixed signals from derivatives market

Data from Coinglass shows inconsistencies in the Litecoin derivatives market. Trading volume in LTC derivatives dropped by 55.70% to $1.01 billion, marking a significant decrease in activity. In contrast, open interest rose by 1.14% to $677.45 million, highlighting that traders are holding their positions even as participation declines.

Metric Current Value Change Trading Volume $1.01 billion -55.70% Open Interest $677.45 million +1.14%

This divergence points to a market with less active trading but sustained exposure, suggesting leveraged participation rather than broadening interest. Experts indicate that such conditions may increase the risk of volatile price shifts as the market responds to changing sentiment.

Coinbase and Morpho expand Litecoin lending

Litecoin’s recent revival has also benefited from new lending opportunities. The Litecoin Foundation announced that Coinbase, a leading global cryptocurrency exchange, has introduced Litecoin-backed loans through Morpho Midnight on Base, a layer-2 network for Ethereum. These products offer fixed interest rates and terms, allowing users to borrow up to $100,000 against their Litecoin holdings.

This addition marks a notable step in building financial infrastructure around Litecoin, expanding its utility beyond simple transactions and trading.

Coinbase’s launch of Litecoin-based loans introduces a new layer of utility for LTC holders, as users can now access fixed-term loans directly backed by their Litecoin holdings.

This move is seen as supporting Litecoin’s relevance in an evolving decentralized finance sphere, where lending products have gained traction as a key utility for established cryptocurrencies.
