LOBSTR, the Stellar wallet developed by Ultra Stellar, is now live with WalletConnect Pay, making it the first wallet to offer the payments product on @StellarOrg. The wallet, which has also been associated with the $XRP Ledger community, lets users pay merchants directly from their wallet.
WalletConnect announced the expanded Stellar support on October 29, 2026, and said LOBSTR is available with WalletConnect Pay from that day. The announcement was made alongside a partnership with Penrose Partners to bring the product to merchants in Bermuda.
How WalletConnect Pay Works on Stellar
WalletConnect Pay now supports payments on Stellar, so customers can pay merchants directly from their Stellar wallets.According to WalletConnect's developer documentation, the Stellar integration supports payments in USDC.
The documentation also describes a fee-sponsored design. The wallet signs the payment transaction, and WalletConnect Pay wraps it in a fee-bump transaction, broadcasts it and pays the XLM network fee. In practice, the buyer does not need to cover the network fee for the payment.
The Stellar support also lets wallets and apps in the ecosystem connect to the WalletConnect Network, which the company says reaches 900 million end users and more than 700 wallets. Launch partners include Fireblocks, Utila, LOBSTR and Arculus.
Bermuda Merchant Rollout Planned for 2027
The launch is tied to a wider push in Bermuda. WalletConnect and Penrose Partners say the initiative is meant to support the Government of Bermuda's plan to become the world's first fully onchain economy.
Premier Tickets (PTIX) is expected to be the first merchant, with payments expected to go live in the second quarter of 2027 and no specific date set.Under the planned setup, each customer's payment would go directly from their wallet to the event organiser's wallet, and PTIX would never hold the funds.
The government is seeking to reduce merchants' reliance on costly card services. The Stellar Development Foundation says local businesses pay 3% to 5% per card transaction, with effective processing costs reaching 10% in some categories. The government has not said how much the new system would charge.
For the Stellar ecosystem, the launch adds a working payments route at a point of sale. Raja Chakravorti, Chief Business Officer of the Stellar Development Foundation, said Bermuda's work to make digital assets part of everyday commerce is the kind of real-world use Stellar was built for. The merchant side remains at the planning stage, so how widely the integration is used will depend on rollouts such as the Bermuda programme.
