Majority of XRPL Nodes Yet to Upgrade to xrpld v3.2.0, Sparking Network Concerns
CryptoCompass editorial visual for altcoins coverage.

Key Points

  • UNL validators exceed upgrade threshold, while overall XRPL node adoption lags.
  • fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment remains below required 80% activation support.

Nearly a month after Ripple released xrpld v3.2.0, data from XRPScan shows 357 of 828 XRP Ledger nodes (43%) have upgraded, while 51% remain on v3.1.3.

The rollout highlights a recurring governance pattern where validator consensus advances faster than the broader node ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin and Ethereum markets have shown typical volatility, while XRP declined 3.5% in 24 hours to trade near $1.09 with approximately $1.54 billion in daily volume.

The $1.10 level is acting as near-term resistance, with market participants watching for a sustained move above that threshold.

Validator Adoption Surpasses Required Threshold

Although overall node adoption sits below 50%, 89% of Unique Node List validators (31 of 35) are already running v3.2.0.

The XRP Ledger requires 80% UNL participation for a version to be considered adopted, meaning the new release has effectively reached validator consensus.

Non-UNL nodes are not immediately required to upgrade, but incentives may shift once related amendments are activated.

Nodes that fail to update after activation risk network incompatibility, a dynamic previously observed during earlier upgrade cycles.

Version 3.2.0 formalizes the shift from rippled to xrpld under the XLS-0095 specification and introduces reported memory usage reductions of 30% to 40%.

The release also includes security enhancements, developer tooling improvements, and refinements to permissioned domains and vault functionality.

fixCleanup3_2_0 Amendment Awaits Broader Support

The accompanying fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment has secured 17 of 35 UNL validator votes, representing 48.57% support.

An 80% supermajority, or 28 votes, is required for activation, and that support must be sustained for two continuous weeks.

If approved, the amendment would implement fixes affecting single-asset vaults, the native lending protocol, multi-purpose tokens, permissioned domains, and the permissioned decentralized exchange.

These components were introduced during XRPL’s 2026 amendment cycle, including Permissioned DEX (XLS-81), Token Escrow (XLS-85), and Vault Lending Protocol standards (XLS-65/66).

The central issue for node operators and institutional participants is whether validator support for fixCleanup3_2_0 accelerates toward the activation threshold before broader node migration increases operational pressure.
