CryptoCompass editorial visual for markets coverage.

Summary

  • Monero trades near $555 following a 4% daily gain, with buyers targeting $558 resistance before a potential $575 breakout.

  • THORChain’s cross-chain swap upgrade expanded Monero trading alternatives, while private wallet transfers reduced available exchange supply amid platform restrictions.

  • Limited swap growth, leveraged trading positions, and European regulatory restrictions present risks, while $500 remains Monero’s critical support level.

Monero (XMR) has approached a critical resistance level at $558 as buyers strengthen their position following weeks of sustained gains. According to TradingView, the privacy cryptocurrency trades near $555, recording approximately 4% growth within 24 hours.

This advance brings XMR closer to a potential breakout toward $575, supported by sustained buying interest despite persistent resistance. Monero gained 43% in August and crossed $500 for the first time since January, following a breakout above longstanding $410 resistance.

Meanwhile, THORChain’s upgraded infrastructure expanded cross-chain Monero swaps without centralized exchanges, providing alternative trading access amid restrictions on major platforms.

Monero Tests $558 Resistance as Trading Activity Raises Questions About Rally Strength

Technical indicators identify $558 as immediate resistance, with the Fibonacci level presenting an important test for buyers. A confirmed daily close above this threshold could open the path toward $575.

Further gains would require Monero to maintain higher lows while establishing support above $575. Conversely, failure to overcome resistance could expose the cryptocurrency to renewed selling pressure.

The $500 level represents immediate support following its previous role as resistance. A sustained breakdown below this price could weaken the recovery structure. Despite August’s substantial gains, trading activity showed limited growth compared with price performance. ChangeNOW recorded a 1.43% increase in XMR swaps during the month, considerably below Monero’s 43% appreciation.

Additionally, leveraged trading introduced another factor influencing market volatility. An investor opened a position worth approximately $14 million using fourfold leverage during August.

Large leveraged positions can intensify price fluctuations when traders face liquidations or close their holdings. Regulatory restrictions also remain relevant as European Union rules tighten requirements surrounding privacy-related cryptocurrency services beginning in 2027.

Conclusion

Monero’s recovery now depends on overcoming $558 resistance and maintaining support above $500. A confirmed breakout could strengthen the outlook toward $575, while weaker buying activity could increase downside risks.
