Stablecoin Supply and DeFi Activity Pick Up
Fresh on-chain data points to a meaningful uptick in activity across @Algorand. The stablecoin market cap on the network rose 12.66% over the past week to $45.22M, with $USDC accounting for nearly 96% of that total supply. USDC has consistently dominated Algorand's stablecoin market, making up close to all of the network's stablecoin capitalization.
DeFi total value locked (TVL) on the chain climbed 5.13% in 24 hours to $38.42M, reflecting a broader trend of capital re-engaging with the network after softer months through mid-2026. USD-denominated TVL on Algorand returned to growth in August, rising to $67M, after a period of modest declines.
DEX Volume Surges, Folks Finance Leads Lending
Decentralized exchange activity has seen a sharp rebound. DEX volume on Algorand jumped 70% week-on-week to $6.46M, a notable acceleration that suggests traders are becoming more active on-chain.
Folks Finance, the leading lending protocol in the Algorand ecosystem, added further momentum. Its TVL rose 13.77% over the same seven-day period, according to DeFiLlama data. Folks Finance holds the highest TVL of any lending protocol on Algorand and has built out a broad suite of integrations and partnerships across the ecosystem. The protocol has expanded beyond Algorand as well, with a cross-chain lending product covering networks including Avalanche, Ethereum, and BNB Smart Chain.
Taken together, the data paints a picture of renewed momentum on Algorand: stablecoin supply is growing, DEX traders are returning, and the network's primary lending protocol is attracting fresh capital. Whether these weekly gains translate into a sustained trend will depend on broader market conditions and continued developer activity on the chain.
