Solana (@solana)-based Moonbirds (@moonbirds) ($BIRB) has surged 36% in the past 24 hours, extending a wider rally across Solana memecoins.

The token is also up 16% over seven days, putting its market cap at around $18 million, according to CoinGecko.

What is the Moonbirds BIRB token?

BIRB serves as the utility token for the Moonbirds NFT ecosystem. The token supports rewards and community incentives tied to the Moonbirds brand on Solana.

Moonbirds began as an Ethereum NFT collection. The intellectual property is now operated by Orange Cap Games, a consumer-focused Web3 studio, according to an overview published by XT(.)com. The same overview describes BIRB as an extension of the Moonbirds brand designed to support community engagement, campaigns and future products, rather than a governance token.

BIRB launched on Solana on January 28, 2026, with a fixed total supply of 1 billion tokens, according to BingX. Phemex, citing CoinGecko data, reported that the token jumped nearly 70% shortly after launch, with a market cap of around $80 million at the time. At roughly $18 million today, the market cap is well below that early level, even after this week's gains.

Solana memecoin sector gains

The wider Solana $SOL memecoin ecosystem also rose 9% over the past 24 hours, reaching a market capitalization of $3.2 billion.

CoinGecko tracks the category as a single group and shows its total value moving between roughly $3 billion and $3.9 billion in recent snapshots, which places the current $3.2 billion figure within that range. Daily swings of several percentage points in either direction are common for the sector.

Moves of this size in small-cap tokens can reverse quickly. Liquidity is thin compared with larger assets, and a market cap near $18 million leaves BIRB sensitive to relatively modest trading flows. Investors should treat short-term gains with caution.
