Key Highlights

  • MoonPay integrates Cash App Pay as a payment method for cryptocurrency acquisitions in the United States.

  • Users can now purchase ETH, SOL, XRP, and USDT using their Cash App balance through MoonPay.

  • The feature is live on MetaMask, Ledger, Trust Wallet, Uniswap, and other partner platforms.

  • This addition complements MoonPay’s existing PayPal and Venmo payment integrations.

  • MoonPay continues diversifying into institutional services, tokenization, and AI-powered payment solutions.

Cryptocurrency payment platform MoonPay has introduced Cash App Pay as a new funding method for digital asset purchases available to qualified U.S. customers. This integration enables users to draw directly from their Cash App account balances when buying cryptocurrencies through MoonPay’s checkout system. The partnership effectively extends Cash App’s reach beyond its native Bitcoin and USDC offerings through MoonPay’s diverse asset catalog.

Cash App Pay Integration Reaches Leading Cryptocurrency Wallets

The MoonPay platform has rolled out Cash App Pay support across its direct purchasing interface and multiple partner ecosystems. Compatible platforms encompass Trust Wallet, MetaMask, Ledger, BitPay, Uniswap, Tangem, LOBSTR, Edge, Moonshot, and Bitcoin.com. This widespread availability means customers encounter the payment option throughout numerous prominent wallet providers and crypto platforms.

This payment integration eliminates friction previously caused by transferring money across different financial applications before executing crypto trades. Qualified users can now leverage their Cash App account funds immediately within MoonPay’s purchasing flow. The feature represents another mainstream payment channel added to the company’s expanding U.S. cryptocurrency ecosystem.

According to Block’s shareholder letter from Q2, Cash App maintained 59 million active users as of June. While the service has long enabled direct Bitcoin transactions and recently launched USDC functionality, MoonPay now bridges Cash App accounts to an extended range of digital currencies through its infrastructure.

Broader Digital Asset Selection Through Cash App Funding

Through this collaboration, qualified Cash App holders can acquire cryptocurrencies such as Ether, Solana, XRP, and USDT via MoonPay’s platform. Cash App’s native cryptocurrency offerings have historically centered around Bitcoin before the recent USDC addition. This partnership therefore provides diversified digital asset exposure without requiring Block to individually integrate each token.

Customers can additionally fund non-custodial wallet solutions using Cash App account balances through MoonPay’s backend systems. Compatible self-custody options include Ledger, Trust Wallet, MetaMask, and additional services among the launch collaborators. MoonPay processes the cryptocurrency transaction while partner platforms deliver the user-facing wallet experience to customers.

The company has previously connected other popular payment platforms with cryptocurrency purchasing capabilities throughout its ecosystem. MoonPay implemented PayPal compatibility in 2024 before subsequently integrating Venmo as an alternative funding source. These earlier rollouts followed comparable strategies by linking established payment account balances directly into cryptocurrency transaction flows.

Strategic Expansion Into Enterprise and Emerging Technologies

MoonPay has been actively diversifying its business beyond consumer-facing crypto onramps through trading infrastructure, custody solutions, tokenization platforms, and blockchain technology services. The firm completed an all-stock acquisition of security technology company Sodot in April, with the transaction valued around $100 million. Sodot’s technology has since been deployed to enhance MoonPay’s institutional cryptocurrency offerings and wallet security architecture.

Additional acquisitions included Solana-focused trading infrastructure provider DFlow in May and cross-chain protocol Glide in July. DFlow’s underlying technology now powers MoonPay Trade, an institutional-grade trading and routing platform supporting over 200 blockchain networks. Franklin Templeton has also integrated its tokenized BENJI money market fund with the platform for institutional-level stablecoin operations.

This month, the company ventured into AI-enabled payment technology through its non-custodial PayBox solution. PayBox enables compatible AI assistants to initiate purchases, token swaps, transfers, and DeFi interactions within user-established permission frameworks. Despite these enterprise initiatives, the Cash App Pay integration demonstrates MoonPay’s continued commitment to streamlining mainstream cryptocurrency access for everyday users.
