Russia’s Moscow Exchange (MOEX) said on 16 September that it will begin trading perpetual futures on five cryptocurrency indices on 22 September, widening a crypto derivatives line that has so far been limited to a single Bitcoin contract. The new instruments, covering Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, Ripple’s XRP and Tron, will be open only to qualified investors and are cash-settled with no delivery of the underlying asset, according to the exchange’s announcement.

Five contracts with auto-rollover and ruble settlement

The perpetual contracts are listed as BTCUSDF, ETHUSDF, SOLUSDF, XRPUSDF and TRXUSDF, each tracking a corresponding MOEX index under the codes MOEXBTC, MOEXETH, MOEXSOL, MOEXXRP and MOEXTRX. They are quoted in U.S. dollars as the value of the underlying index but settle in Russian rubles, with funding calculated using parameters of K1 equal to 0% and K2 equal to 0.35%. The exchange described the instruments as cash-settled daily futures with automatic rollover, meaning they carry no expiry date and no physical delivery of the digital assets. Perpetual futures, it added, give professional participants and their clients an additional way to diversify within the crypto-assets market.

Maria Patrikeeva, managing director of the derivatives market at Moscow Exchange, framed the launch as a milestone for Russia’s derivatives market and said the exchange sees high demand from investors for derivative instruments on digital assets. Providing access within the Russian legal framework is essential, she added, because the exchange’s infrastructure guarantees settlement reliability, transparent pricing and protection of traders’ rights. Since the first crypto futures debuted last summer, more than 72,000 qualified investors have traded them, with total volume exceeding 600 billion rubles, the exchange said.

A widening line of institutional crypto products

The new contracts join the 31 perpetual futures already offered by MOEX across currencies, indices, precious metals and securities. The exchange first entered crypto derivatives in June 2025, when it listed Bitcoin futures for qualified investors under the IBIT ticker. Its derivatives market is the leading venue for trading derivative instruments in Russia and Eastern Europe, and the expansion arrives as perpetual futures have become a defining venue for crypto speculation globally, a trend reflected in BlockchainReporter’s look at how exchanges use perpetual contracts to trade assets around the clock.
