OKX is reported to hold roughly one in every ten Filecoin ($FIL) tokens in circulation, a level of concentration that is drawing attention across the market. According to @WallStreetXHQ, the @OKX exchange platform currently holds 10.5% of @Filecoin's circulating supply. The outlet added that this is some 35x the amount held in @Grayscale's Filecoin Trust.
What the numbers imply
Circulating supply data varies by provider. Coinbase lists about 838 million FIL in circulation, while OKX's own market page shows roughly 834.65 million. On those figures, 10.5% would equate to about 88 million FIL. That is an estimate based on the reported percentage, and the underlying OKX balance has not been independently confirmed here.
The Grayscale comparison is consistent with public data. BeInCrypto reported that Grayscale's FIL holdings reached a record of more than 2.2 million tokens in November 2025. Against a stake of that size, an exchange balance near 88 million FIL would be roughly 35 to 40 times larger, in line with the multiple cited.
The Grayscale vehicle is also small by fund standards. Grayscale's filing describes the trust as a product that holds FIL and issues shares quoted on OTCQB under the ticker FILG. That makes it a narrow institutional channel rather than a broad measure of investor holdings.
Concentration risk or exchange depth?
A large exchange balance can be read in two ways. It may reflect deep liquidity, since exchanges hold customer deposits and inventory that support tight spreads and large order sizes. OKX's own page shows 24-hour FIL trading volume of more than $207 million on the platform, which points to active trading.
It also raises custody and counterparty questions. Tokens held on an exchange are typically customer assets pooled in the platform's wallets, so a single balance does not necessarily mean one owner controls the supply. Exchange balances can fall quickly if users withdraw, and they can also rise if holders move tokens to sell.
For traders, the main factors to watch are whether the exchange balance trends higher or lower over time and how it compares with on-chain flows. A rising balance can signal selling pressure, while a falling one often points to self-custody or staking. Without a verified, time-stamped on-chain breakdown, the 10.5% figure is best treated as a snapshot rather than evidence of risk.
