@Shibtoken's $SHIB memecoin is on the cusp of a significant community milestone. According to @etherscan, the token currently counts 1,698,001 holder addresses on Ethereum, putting it fewer than 2,000 wallets away from the 1.7 million mark.
The climb to this level has been methodical rather than explosive. The number of SHIB-holding addresses rose by 8,927 throughout September, reaching 1,693,365 by September 27. That pace continued into October, with SHIB adding roughly 4,770 further holder addresses over the following two weeks.
The steady accumulation is notable because it has come against a backdrop of subdued price action. Despite ongoing weakness in SHIB's price, the token's holder base has grown substantially in recent months. For many observers, the persistence of wallet growth during quieter price periods is itself a signal of durable community interest.
It is worth noting a caveat on the numbers. Holder counts measure the number of blockchain addresses associated with a token, not unique individuals. A single person or organization can control multiple addresses, and the metric does not indicate how much SHIB each address holds or whether newly counted addresses represent active users.
The Etherscan figure captures only Ethereum-native holdings. When other networks are factored in, $SHIB's true reach is considerably broader. Shiba Inu now boasts over 1.8 million unique addresses across Ethereum and Shibarium alone, reflecting its ongoing expansion as a multi-chain asset.
The token's footprint expanded further still in early October. $SHIB launched on the @Solana blockchain on October 4, driving a sharp surge in trading activity.Within 24 hours of the Solana listing, trading volume surged to over $95.8 million, an increase of 171.8%.Market participants believe the Solana expansion will help push SHIB's on-chain holder count to 1.7 million faster.
Taken together, the Ethereum count approaching 1.7 million is as much a floor as a ceiling. Once Shibarium and @Solana addresses are included, $SHIB's combined holder base already sits well above that figure, illustrating just how far the memecoin's reach now extends beyond its original chain.
