A Regulated First for Hong Kong Retail Investors

OSL Group has become the first Securities and Futures Commission (SFC)-licensed exchange in Hong Kong to open $XRP trading to retail investors. The publicly listed exchange launched retail XRP trading on its OSL HK platform on July 29, making it the first SFC-licensed exchange in the city to let regular investors buy and sell the token.

Traders get Flash Trade and OTC pairs in USD and HKD, with XRP joining Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana as the only four retail-approved tokens on the platform. All pairs settle on the XRP Ledger.

OSL Group, listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under ticker 863, holds SFC licenses across Type 1, Type 4, Type 7, and Type 9 categories.OSL is the world's first SFC-licensed and insured digital asset platform.

A Gradual Path to Retail Access

The retail launch follows a phased rollout. In December 2025, OSL HK announced the listing of XRP for Professional Investors only, with Flash Trade pairs in XRP/HKD, XRP/USD, and XRP/USDT, alongside XRP deposits and withdrawals via the XRP Ledger. Tuesday's move extends that access to ordinary investors for the first time.

For Hong Kong-based retail investors, the immediate implication is straightforward: they can now buy and sell XRP through a regulated, licensed platform, with protections that include custody safeguards, anti-money laundering compliance, and SFC supervision.

The SFC's licensing regime for virtual asset trading platforms went live in 2023, and since then, the approved roster of retail-tradable tokens has been expanding steadily. The addition of $XRP is a notable step in that process, given the token's complicated global regulatory history.

The listing also arrives at a moment of broader momentum for the XRP ecosystem. OSL's retail listing lands at a time when XRP spot ETFs have extended an eight-week inflow streak, reaching $1.49 billion in cumulative inflows, a sign of sustained institutional appetite.
