  • Ethereum Foundation has selected Pascal Caversaccio to its Board of Directors for a one-year voluntary period.
  • Pascal Caversaccio has knowledge about the issue of security through his role in SEAL 911.
  • The selection further emphasizes the dedication to privacy and security.

The Ethereum Foundation has improved its governance through the inclusion of renowned blockchain security expert Pascal Caversaccio to its board of directors. The announcement came on July 29 and is evidence of the Foundation’s emphasis on privacy, cybersecurity, and sustainable protocol resiliency as Ethereum continues to grow across the world.

Caversaccio, commonly known as pcaversaccio, will take a one-year voluntary tenure together with the Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Foundation president Aya Miyaguchi, and Swiss legal counsel Patrick Storchenegger. This will increase the number of board members to four and bring in technical research and blockchain security expertise.

Expertise in Security Makes the Governance Stronger

As stated by the Ethereum Foundation, its board is responsible for overseeing the strategic guidance in the organization as well as making sure that the management is aligned with the organizational mission and Swiss laws. Caversaccio has vast expertise in running organizations since he was the co-founder and lead of SEAL 911, which is an around-the-clock emergency response program for cryptocurrency exploits, compromised wallets, and protocol security incidents.

In addition, in 2024, he published “The Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto” and “Ethereum Privacy: The Road to Self-Sovereignty” in 2025, which shows his dedication to privacy and security of distributed systems. This year, the Foundation has changed its structure into separate protocol, community, institutional, user, and management teams, prioritizing privacy, censorship-resistance, post-quantum security, and protocol upgrades.

SEAL 911 Experience Bolsters Long-Term Network Defense

Caversaccio’s experience with SEAL 911 gives incident response knowledge to Ethereum governance without changing the way decisions are made in a decentralized network. According to Security Alliance, SEAL 911 has managed over 3,300 security incidents, organized over 125 emergency war rooms, and helped to secure over $180 million worth of digital assets.

Moreover, the Ethereum Foundation has bolstered its security by hiring specialized engineers and artificial intelligence-based technology capable of detecting software weaknesses prior to the public announcement of their discovery. Officials clarified that the appointment of Caversaccio is completely voluntary for the period of one year and has not brought any changes to the issue of remuneration, duties on the committee, and governance.
