Veteran trader Peter Brandt (@PeterLBrandt) has named Monero (@monero) his clear favorite after publishing a side-by-side weekly chart comparison of several major altcoins, a review that left $XRP trailing its peers on pure price-action grounds.

Monero Gets the Nod

Brandt recently published a weekly chart comparison of XRP, Monero, and Solana, judging each asset purely on classical price patterns and measured moves. His verdict on $XMR was unambiguous. The privacy-focused cryptocurrency stood out because Brandt considered all of its overhead supply already absorbed, contrasting that position sharply with XRP's burden and describing Monero as having "clear sailing ahead."

His reasoning is that $XMR has already worked through the holders who bought at higher prices and may sell when price returns, a condition he calls absorbed supply, while XRP still carries a large amount of it overhead. Among the altcoins analyzed, Brandt ranks Monero first, followed by Solana and Ether, with XRP lower on his preference list.

XRP: A Bullish Setup With a Big Caveat

Brandt has outlined a path for XRP to reach $2.16, based on technical analysis from a chart position near $1.51, implying approximately 43% growth potential from that level. He spotted a cup-and-handle formation potentially developing as part of a broader inverse head-and-shoulders configuration.

Significant supply overhead in the $2 to $3.70 range, however, may generate selling pressure during any XRP recovery. XRP remains well below major peaks from its previous rally, leaving higher price levels that could attract selling as the token advances, creating resistance along its potential upward path. Brandt was direct in his assessment, writing that there is "a TON of overhead supply to work through" in XRP and calling it a clear negative for the token.

Brandt sees further XRP right shoulder development as likely but not required, and his current $2.16 daily objective differs from his earlier $5.40 projection. He has been consistent in cautioning that chart targets are conditional. He asked XRP holders not to take the weaker chart assessment personally, noting that patterns morph and measured moves can fail.
