Community Staking as a Discovery Engine

@PiCoreTeam has rolled out a redesigned Ecosystem Directory Staking feature, giving developers a new way to reach Pi Network's community of more than 60 million engaged users. The feature is a decentralized mechanism for Pioneers and businesses to actively support and promote the ranking of Pi apps and utilities inside the Ecosystem Interface.

The Ecosystem Interface is where Pioneers browse Pi apps by category inside Pi Browser, covering Mainnet apps, Pi App Studio apps, and services such as centralized exchanges.Pioneers and businesses can stake their $PI on the Mainnet blockchain to directly boost an app's ranking within the ecosystem, increasing its exposure to the Pi community and potentially driving more user traffic.

Originally launched in June 2025, the feature is a lightweight platform-level utility that requires minimum effort in setup and participation for developers, compared with options such as Pi Ad Network or Pi Launchpad, which involve more formal application and approval processes.

A Self-Service Route to User Acquisition

The feature provides a self-service avenue for developers and creators to use Pi to tap into the network's attention resource and acquire users. The timing of the update is notable. The redesigned staking interface arrives ahead of the Pi2Day event on June 28, which many in the community expect to bring further ecosystem announcements.

The feature is positioned as particularly useful as AI-assisted tools make it easier to create apps but harder to reach real users, offering developers a way to get their apps discovered and supported by the more than 60 million engaged Pioneers in the Pi ecosystem.

Early results suggest the mechanism can move the needle quickly. The Core Team cited CiDi Games, which accumulated 3.19 million staked $PI within days of launch, with the increased visibility helping generate more than 1.2 million game plays in under a week.

One key distinction from conventional staking is worth noting. There are no protocol-level rewards for staking, as the network does not favour one Pi app over another. Whether to offer additional incentives, such as in-app rewards or promotions, is left to the individual developer. The original staked amount is returned to users once the staking period ends.
