@0xPolygon has now processed a cumulative 8.27 billion transactions, according to data from @chainspect_app. The figure places Polygon among the most active blockchain networks in 2026 and underlines the steady growth in usage of the network and its native token, $POL.

The number is a lifetime total rather than a daily or monthly count. It reflects all activity recorded on the network since launch.

Transaction growth and how Polygon compares

The milestone follows a run of steady increases in the lifetime count. Chainspect's network page showed about 8.14 billion all-time transactions for Polygon in a comparison with Ethereum, versus 3.74 billion for Ethereum on the same page. That put Polygon at roughly 2.17 times Ethereum's total on that measure. Polygon's block explorer, PolygonScan, listed a similar total of about 8.14 billion transactions on its charts page.

Activity has also picked up this year. Crypto Briefing reported that Polygon PoS processed a record 743 million transactions in the second quarter of 2026, up more than 160% from the same period a year earlier. The outlet also reported a record 7.5 million weekly transactions in July, a milestone shared by Polygon Foundation CEO Sandeep Nailwal.

Cumulative counts do not capture every measure of network health. Chainspect's comparison with Solana, for example, shows Solana's all-time transaction total is far larger than Polygon's. Lifetime totals are best read alongside metrics such as daily usage, fees and security.

Developer activity and validator set

The same Chainspect data shows 68,230 developer commits for Polygon, and a network secured by 104 validators. Earlier Chainspect figures were close to these levels, with 67,434 commits and 105 validators listed on its Polygon page, so the latest numbers indicate continued development and a stable validator set.

Validators on Polygon PoS stake $POL, which replaced $MATIC as the network's native token. According to Coin Bureau, POL is used as the gas token on Polygon PoS and also works as a staking token that supports validators. Developer commits are a common but imperfect gauge of activity, since they say little about the size or quality of each change.
