A post from crypto commentator Pumpius (@pumpius) recently made the rounds on X. It claimed that a potential gold revaluation would push XRP above $100,000 as the USD loses value. The post received significant attention. ChartNerd, a technical analyst with a following in the XRP space, has seen enough.
ChartNerd Responds
ChartNerd (@ChartNerdTA) posted a clear rejection of the $100,000 claim. He told followers to “save yourself the disappointment and rid yourself of this type of mindless influencer garbage.” He warned that investors willing to follow such predictions would be “dragged through the floor for many years on false promises.”
The response was firm. ChartNerd did not engage with the theory on its merits. He dismissed it outright and urged his audience to exercise judgment.
Is $100,000 Realistic?
ChartNerd has always been bullish on XRP, and has even called the $27 target inevitable. However, the math makes the target nearly impossible to justify. XRP currently trades around $1.08. A move to $100,000 would represent a gain of over 9,000,000%. XRP has approximately 57 billion tokens in circulation. At $100,000 per token, the market cap would reach $5.7 quadrillion.
Global GDP sits at roughly $110 trillion. XRP at $100,000 would be worth more than 50 times the entire global economy. No asset in history has achieved anything close to that valuation.
ChartNerd’s Track Record on Outlandish Targets
ChartNerd has addressed inflated XRP predictions before. He recently called out Pumpius for outrageous targets. While that move was an error, as Pumpius was describing the amount he planned to invest, the recent exchange shows ChartNerd was heading in the right direction.
His approach prioritizes technical structure over speculative targets. He has consistently separated himself from influencers who promote extreme price levels without credible technical or fundamental backing.
The Pattern of Moonshot Calls
ChartNerd is not the only voice pushing back. Jake Claver, chairman of Digital Ascension Group, predicted XRP would reach $100 before the end of 2025. XRP did not come close. Zach Rector, another analyst, publicly called the prediction misleading.
TimesTabloid documented the pattern in January, listing invalidated predictions including Claver’s $750 target alongside calls from Chad Steingraber at $250, JackTheRippler at $100, and Time Traveler at $73,000. Claver has since said he is more bullish on XRP than ever, but community reaction has grown increasingly skeptical.
