Two tokens are drawing retail attention this week: Casper Network's $CSPR (@Casper_Network) and Pudgy Penguins' $PENGU (@pudgypenguins) are both sitting atop CoinGecko's trending list, though the catalysts behind each are quite different.
CSPR gets a derivatives boost
$CSPR is up roughly 19% over the past seven days, outperforming the broader crypto market. CoinGecko data shows the token has gained around 17.6% in that period while the wider smart-contract platform category has declined.
A likely driver of the renewed interest is the launch of CSPR perpetual contracts on @Krakenfx. Kraken went live with perpetual futures for eligible US clients on its Kraken Pro platform in June 2026, using Bitnomial, a CFTC-regulated exchange acquired by Kraken's parent company Payward. The expansion of the contract set over time means additional assets, potentially including $CSPR, could see increased derivatives-driven liquidity. Perpetuals let traders take leveraged long or short positions with no expiration date, a format that has come to dominate global crypto derivatives trading.
Beyond the derivatives angle, Casper has been building out its technical roadmap. CoinMarketCap notes the network completed a mainnet upgrade to version 2.2.2 in late June 2026 and has outlined plans for full Ethereum Virtual Machine compatibility and support for AI agent micropayments under its Casper Manifest roadmap.
PENGU holds attention despite a dip
$PENGU tells a different story. The token is down around 6% over the past week, yet it remains on the CoinGecko trending list. That staying power points to community engagement rather than price momentum. The Pudgy Penguins team has been actively running campaigns and updates for its holder base, keeping the project front of mind even during a softer price period.
Trending status on CoinGecko reflects search and watchlist activity from retail users, so both tokens are clearly capturing attention. Whether that translates into sustained price performance will depend on whether the underlying catalysts, derivatives access for $CSPR and community momentum for $PENGU, continue to build.
