XRP and HYPE Stand Apart in a Difficult Week
In a week where most of the crypto market has struggled to attract fresh capital, two altcoins have bucked the trend. Spot ETFs tied to @Ripple$XRP and @HyperliquidX$HYPE are the only altcoin products to record positive inflows, with $XRP funds up $3.14 million on the week and $HYPE ETFs adding $277,000, according to @BSCNews.
The narrow breadth of positive flows underscores how selective institutional buyers have become. Rather than rotating broadly into altcoins, allocators appear to be picking specific names and staying cautious everywhere else. Institutional money has continued flowing into the most established crypto ETF categories while retreating from newer altcoin products, a pattern that fits a risk-off rotation inside crypto itself, where allocators trim exposure to higher-beta assets and maintain core positions.
Context: A Rocky Start to October for Altcoin ETFs
The week's figures arrive after a turbulent stretch for altcoin ETF flows. Weekly inflows into XRP and Solana spot ETFs dropped more than 94% in the prior week, according to CryptoPotato, a sharp pullback after several weeks of steady institutional buying. That $XRP has managed to return to positive territory so quickly reflects the resilience of demand for the asset.
$XRP ETFs have recorded net inflows for 12 consecutive weeks, according to SoSoValue data, even as Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs each posted three weekly outflows since mid-July. Cumulative inflows into U.S. spot $XRP funds have now surpassed $1.79 billion since their launch in late 2025.
For $HYPE, the picture is more mixed. Hyperliquid ETF flows have turned positive again in October after recording net outflows during September. The rally in $HYPE has been supported by strong protocol revenue, consistent fee-funded buybacks, and inflows into U.S. spot HYPE ETFs from Bitwise and Grayscale. Still, the modest $277,000 weekly inflow signals that conviction remains thin compared to earlier in the year.
With most altcoins seeing outflows and sentiment subdued across the broader market, the fact that $XRP and $HYPE are attracting any net new capital at all may be the more notable data point this week.
