Trading giant @RobinhoodApp has purchased $25 million worth of Bitcoin for its own corporate balance sheet, marking the first time the Nasdaq-listed brokerage has put company capital directly
Trading giant @RobinhoodApp has purchased $25 million worth of Bitcoin for its own corporate balance sheet, marking the first time the Nasdaq-listed brokerage has put company capital directly into the asset it has long offered to retail customers. The move was flagged by on-chain analytics platform @arkham and later confirmed by Robinhood executives.
A Signal, Not a Treasury Program
The disclosure came from Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood's Senior Vice President and General Manager of Crypto and International, speaking at the Digital Asset Summit Asia on October 7, 2026. Kerbrat framed the purchase as a signal rather than the launch of a full treasury accumulation program, tying it to Robinhood's broader crypto work, including Robinhood Chain.
The goal, he said, is for "people to understand that Robinhood is committed to the space," while also acknowledging that at a company with a market capitalisation of around $100 billion, the $25 million position "is not going to change a lot of the current trajectory of the company."
The purchase is entirely separate from the roughly $25 billion in customer crypto that Robinhood already custodies on behalf of its users.Robinhood reported $5.36 billion in cash and cash equivalents and $155 million in stablecoin holdings as of June 30, 2026, making the Bitcoin purchase less than 0.5% of its cash balance.
Robinhood has not published a press release or an 8-K filing on the matter, and the exact coin count has not been officially confirmed.Third-party estimates put the holding at approximately 294 BTC, based on an average purchase price near $84,960.
Deep in Crypto, but Only Now Holding Bitcoin
The purchase comes at a time when @RobinhoodApp has been making aggressive moves across the crypto landscape under CEO @vladtenev. The company has been expanding its crypto business through perpetual futures, tokenized stocks, the Bitstamp acquisition, and its Ethereum Layer 2 network, Robinhood Chain.
Robinhood Chain is a blockchain built by the company that went live on mainnet on July 1, 2026. It is designed to put stocks, funds, and other real-world assets directly on-chain, where they can be held in a self-custody wallet and traded around the clock. Despite this deep crypto integration, this $25 million purchase represents the very first time Robinhood has held $BTC on its own books.
The move signals deeper alignment with crypto as the company expands trading and blockchain services, though Robinhood has not said whether it will grow its Bitcoin position further.
