Transaction costs on @SeiNetwork have fallen to a 30-day low of $0.00213 per transaction, reinforcing the Layer 1 blockchain's positioning around speed and low fees. At that rate, a single dollar can process about 117 transactions.

The figures point to a network that remains inexpensive to use, a trait that matters most for applications that depend on frequent, small transactions.

Why Low Fees Matter for a Parallel EVM

The lower cost fits the design of the parallel EVM that underpins $SEI. According to Sei's developer documentation, Sei is a parallelized EVM Layer 1 blockchain with 400ms finality, throughput of roughly 100 MGas/s today and full compatibility with Ethereum tooling.

Parallel execution allows transactions that do not conflict with one another to be processed at the same time rather than one after another. BitGo's developer documentation notes that Sei's parallelized execution and high throughput keep gas fees significantly lower than those on Ethereum mainnet.

That cost and speed profile is relevant to several on-chain activities:

High-frequency decentralized exchange routing, where orders may pass through several pools before settling. Arbitrage operations, which rely on thin margins and fast execution. Order book clearance, which requires many rapid updates to resting orders.

Market makers also stand to benefit from avoiding fee spikes during periods of heavy network demand, since predictable costs make it easier to quote tight spreads.

Sei Giga Upgrade and Current Activity

Sei Labs is also working on a larger performance upgrade. Sei's documentation describes Sei Giga as the next generation of the protocol, designed to be the first multi-proposer EVM Layer 1, which will roll out as in-place upgrades to the live network rather than a new chain. The project's stated target is 200,000 transactions per second with 400ms finality, though these remain targets rather than confirmed mainnet performance.

Low fees do not necessarily translate into strong network usage or revenue. Data from DefiLlama showed that, as of Oct. 28, 2026, Sei had $28.19 million in DeFi total value locked and $7.69 million in 24-hour DEX volume. Cheap transactions are one input for traders and developers, alongside liquidity and application demand.
