Despite the slow pace of development within the Shiba Inu ecosystem, the community is eagerly awaiting any potential announcements from lead developer Shytoshi Kusama. Kusama’s last recorded interaction on the X platform dates back to May 13, 2026.
Kusama’s Profile Changes Spark Speculation
Kusama’s prolonged silence has been a point of focus, particularly among community members. In September 2026, Kusama updated his X profile biography to the cryptic “Polish” and his location to “Close,” sparking speculation about the possible nearing completion of a project. However, whether these updates pertain to Shiba Inu, an independent AI venture, or another project remains unconfirmed. His silence on social media has maintained this ambiguity.
Kusama’s brief profile alterations sparked anticipation of new developments within the community, but the specific project linked to these updates remains unclear.
Shibarium’s Restructuring Advances Despite Developer Silence
Despite Kusama’s silence, technical efforts within the Shiba Inu ecosystem continue. Long-time community member Mazrael shared a message from developer Kaal Dhairya, indicating that the Shibarium restructuring issue has been resolved, leaving only the completion of the DRPC transition in the new environment.
In his latest evaluation on X, Mazrael noted that Shibarium is still in a rebuilding mode. Nevertheless, several new features and improvements have been quietly implemented on the Layer 2 network in recent weeks.
According to Kaal Dhairya’s shared message, the Shibarium reorganization issue is resolved, with the final step awaiting the completion of the DRPC transition.
Mazrael reported that Shibarium now utilizes the CreateX standard factory tool, enabling developers to distribute contracts to the same address across all chains. Additionally, all 12 contracts under Safe v1.4.1 have been deployed to their canonical addresses via the Safe Singleton Factory.
The x402 system is now fully activated on Shibarium, enabling AI agents to make payments using SHIB, TREAT, or wrapped BONE. On the infrastructure side, the Shibarium RPC records have been updated in the Ethereum lists/chains registry, with current connection details accessible on Chainlist. In September 2026, both the official SHIB site and the ShibaSwap page were migrated to Cloudflare infrastructure, incorporating IPv6 support and leaving the old hosting setup behind.
