Shiba Inu trades at $0.00000473 on Friday afternoon. Over the past 24 hours the price has fallen as far as $0.00000448, a level only 2.7 percent above the low of August 18. That is the real news of the day, not the 5.4 percent loss.

The evidence: daily turnover is $127.5 million against a market value of $2.79 billion, the calendar day's low is $0.00000450, and the zone around $0.0000044 held for eleven days in August. Our assessment of that follows further down: the zone is the only reliable level of the past 90 days, but the trigger for this fall is a different one from August. All price figures in this text come from CoinGecko, as of October 30, 2026, early afternoon.

Shiba Inu at $0.00000473: Friday's numbers

Shiba Inu has lost 5.4 percent since Thursday afternoon. The range of the past 24 hours runs from a high of $0.00000501 to a low of $0.00000448, 11.8 percent between the two ends. Over seven days the loss stands at 7.3 percent, over 30 days at 18.8 percent.

October began at $0.00000577 and peaked at $0.00000599. From there to today's level 21 percent is missing. The price sits 94.5 percent below the all-time high of October 2021.

On the day Shiba Inu sits in the middle of the field among the large assets: Bitcoin is down 4.8 percent at $77,407, Ethereum down 5.2 percent at $2,232, Solana 6.7 percent at $95.07, Cardano 6.3 percent at $0.1924. Dogecoin, its closest relative in the memecoin field, gives up 5.5 percent to $0.07572. Shiba Inu is therefore falling neither especially hard nor especially softly, but with the field.

The August low at $0.00000436 is the next level

The level that matters now is not a rounded value and not a trend line but a price that actually traded: $0.00000436. That is how low Shiba Inu stood on August 18, 2026, and the price has never been lower in the past 90 days. Today's low of $0.00000448 sits 2.7 percent above it, the current price 8.4 percent.

To the upside the next level with evidence behind it is the day's high of $0.00000501. It is also the price Shiba Inu has rubbed against several times since Monday: on October 28 the day's high was $0.00000500, on October 29 it was $0.00000503. Judging today therefore means working with two hard edges rather than an opinion.

Support: $0.00000450 (low of October 30), below that $0.00000436 (low of August 18).Resistance: $0.00000501 (day's high), above that $0.00000503 (high of October 29).

Since yesterday: $0.00000467 has become $0.00000450

On Thursday evening we described the lowest level since August here, then at $0.0000047. That level has since been undercut. The day's low on October 29 was $0.00000467, that of October 30 $0.00000450. That is 3.6 percent in a day, and it is the difference between a two-month low and the immediate neighbourhood of the August low.

The upper edge has shifted too. Yesterday the day reached $0.00000503, today $0.00000483, counted from midnight UTC. The corridor has therefore moved down without much change in its width.

The last visit to this zone lasted eleven days

August is worth a closer look, because it is the only comparable case of the past 90 days. Between August 7 and August 19 the daily low fell below $0.0000046 on eleven days. The price did not sit on a single point during that time but swung in a narrow band between $0.00000436 and $0.00000458.

Then it moved fast. On August 19 Shiba Inu closed at $0.00000474, on August 20 at $0.00000493, and on August 21 the price reached $0.00000615. Against the low of August 18 that was 41 percent in three days. Half of it came back just as fast: on August 22 Shiba Inu stood at $0.00000544 again.

No forecast follows from that, but two sober observations do. First, the zone did not hold for a day in August but over almost two weeks. Second, the move that led out of it was not calm but abrupt, and it did not last.

Trading volume against market value: 4.6 percent for Shiba Inu, 11.7 for Bitcoin

Why does a memecoin move so markedly on a day like this? Part of the answer sits in a ratio few people ever work out: daily turnover against market value. For Shiba Inu, $127.5 million of turnover stands against $2.79 billion of market value today, which is 4.6 percent. For Bitcoin it is $182.8 billion against $1,556 billion, so 11.7 percent, and for Ethereum 10.0 percent.

The ratio measures how much of an asset actually changes hands in a day. When it is low, a sell order of the same size meets a thinner order book and the price gives way more. That is no rule without exceptions, and it does not explain the whole day either. It does explain why market-wide selling pressure usually produces larger swings in Shiba Inu than in Bitcoin.

Then there is the sheer number: market value and price imply around 589 trillion tokens in circulation. How many of them have been taken out of circulation since launch is tracked by the burn register Shibburn. So far that has not turned into a scarcity that carries the price.

Liquidations and the Binance hack as the day's trigger

The occasion does not sit with Shiba Inu itself. Across the crypto market, positions worth more than $1.54 billion were closed by force in the past 24 hours. The starting point was Wednesday's attack on Binance. The exchange puts the damage at $6.3 billion, has pledged full reimbursement from its SAFU fund and has named 15,000 Bitcoin for it.

Shiba Inu is not affected by the paused withdrawals; those were paused for Solana and XRP. The connection is indirect and runs through leverage: when positions are squared off market-wide, exchanges sell what is liquid enough, and the smaller assets get pulled into the move. That is exactly the sequence seen today, when the price reached its daily low between 13:00 and 15:00 Central European time.

Open tax folder with coloured index tabs beside an old desk calculator, a cup and a ballpoint pen on a dark wooden table top in slanting evening light Whether a loss counts for tax purposes is decided in Germany by the purchase record and not by the price level.

Holding period under section 23 of the Income Tax Act: the purchase date decides the loss deduction

For investors in Germany a price near the year's low has a side that has nothing to do with the chart. Crypto assets count as other assets, and a sale falls under the private disposal rules of section 23 of the German Income Tax Act. That produces a clear dividing line.

If the purchase is less than a year old, a sale is relevant for tax. A gain would be taxable, a loss can be offset against gains from other private disposals in the same year, and whatever is left goes into a carry-back to the previous year or a carry-forward. If the purchase is more than a year old, a gain is tax-free, and precisely for that reason a loss is then worthless for tax. The exemption limit has stood at 1,000 euros a year since 2024: if the sum of all private disposal gains stays below it, no tax is due; once it is reached, the entire amount is taxable.

In concrete terms: holding a Shiba Inu position at a loss means checking the purchase record first for when it arose, and ordering the part-holdings by the FIFO method per address. December 31 is the limit up to which a realisation still falls into the 2026 tax year. For clean documentation, our overview of tax tools and portfolio trackers lists the programs that keep purchase dates and FIFO order automatically. Which statutory changes to the one-year period are currently under discussion we track in our status on the holding period reform. Neither replaces tax advice.

Leverage and liquidation: an 11.8 percent range in a single day

The day's second practical number is the daily range. Between $0.00000501 and $0.00000448 lie 11.8 percent. Holding Shiba Inu with ten times leverage requires, on the arithmetic, a ten percent move against the position before the collateral is used up. October 30 delivered that move within a day, in both directions.

That is the mechanism behind the $1.54 billion of forced closures: it is not the price level that triggers them but the speed at which it moves. Using leveraged products therefore means working with the range and not with the closing price. Which venues apply which leverage, fees and margin rules is set out in our comparison of perpetual trading venues.

A word on the cost side, because it is easily lost at eight-decimal prices: at a price of $0.00000473 the spread between buying and selling price decides a larger share of the stake than it does with Bitcoin. A spread of half a percent, at one turnover a month, costs more over a year than most providers' custody fee.

The newsroom's assessment: two pieces of evidence for the zone, one against

From the newsroom's perspective, the zone between $0.00000436 and $0.00000460 is the only area of the past 90 days in which buyers have visibly shown up. Two pieces of evidence speak for it: the price built a floor there over eleven days in August instead of falling through, and today's low, at 2.7 percent away, is close enough that the same orders are within reach again.

One point speaks against it, and it weighs heavily: in August the trigger was an ordinary market decline, today it is a wave of liquidations after an attack on the largest exchange. A floor that held in calm circumstances need not hold under forced selling. We therefore rate the zone as a test and not as a net. This is explicitly not a recommendation to buy or sell, and a total loss remains possible with memecoins.

Shiba Inu's low: $0.00000436 and $0.00000501 are what decide it

The day boils down to two numbers. Below $0.00000436 the August low would be broken and the price at a level not seen in the past 90 days. Above $0.00000501 today would be worked off and the previous week's corridor restored. In between, everything carries on as it has since Monday.

  1. Look up the purchase date. The date of each part-position determines whether a loss still counts for tax this year. The cut-off for the 2026 tax year is December 31.
  2. Sort out custody. Holding larger amounts for longer means separating a trading holding from a long-term holding. Which devices do that at what cost is in the hardware wallet comparison.
  3. Choose a venue by spread and fee. At eight-decimal prices the trading spread bites harder than with large assets. The terms of the regulated venues are in the overview of crypto exchanges.
