After a period of downtime, shibariumscan.io, the primary blockchain explorer for the Shibarium network, is once again accessible. Longtime Shiba Inu ecosystem builder Mazrael.shib reported that the explorer is back online, although with significant changes: the site has returned without its usual branding and with Shibnames support temporarily disabled.

Explorer returns with limited features

The Shibariumscan explorer is currently undergoing re-indexing, which means some transaction data and block information may appear incomplete or experience delays. This process is expected to continue until the system fully synchronizes with real-time chain activity.

Mazrael stated that the explorer outage did not affect the Shibarium Layer 2 blockchain itself, which remained operational. However, the prior day saw the actual network face a five-hour outage. Restoring the chain’s connection to Ethereum Layer 1 required about nine hours, temporarily disrupting the bridging process between networks. Checkpoint intervals have since improved and are back to roughly 1.5 hours, near the standard level.

Alternatives and community workarounds

While shibariumscan.io recovers, users are not entirely cut off from monitoring network activity. Mazrael recommended Shibwatch as an alternative resource for checking transaction statuses and resolving Shibnames during the explorer’s recovery phase.

For interactions involving bridge activity and proof-of-stake operations, ShibWallet is the suggested platform, especially when the main bridge interface encounters technical problems.

These workarounds have enabled the Shiba Inu community to continue engaging with Shibarium, even as some technical infrastructure remains under repair.

Mini dictionary: Shibarium is a Layer 2 blockchain solution built on Ethereum for the Shiba Inu ecosystem, aiming to improve scalability and reduce transaction costs for SHIB and related tokens. Layer 2 networks increase transaction throughput while leveraging Ethereum’s security.

Network stability and ongoing challenges

For most users, a blockchain explorer is primarily a convenience tool. However, for developers and active contributors, it serves as essential infrastructure. With the temporary loss of shibariumscan.io and interruption of Shibnames functionality, many applications that depend on these tools now require updates or must temporarily shift to alternatives. Users monitoring token launches, liquidity flows, and wallet activity also face disruptions until full re-indexing is complete.

These types of technical interruptions are not uncommon on developing Layer 2 networks, where a relatively small team manages core infrastructure. Despite the challenges, Mazrael pointed out that the underlying Layer 2 chain remained active and continued producing blocks throughout the explorer outage, signaling the network’s overall stability.

Shibarium has experienced a mix of steady development work alongside infrastructure setbacks throughout 2026, including occasional network disruptions and persistent issues with core tools. Although transaction volumes, token burns, and validator activity continue to energize the community, ongoing reliability concerns with key infrastructure remain a challenge.

Current outlook for the Shiba Inu ecosystem

The recent return of shibariumscan.io, even in its current limited state, offers the community renewed visibility into network operations. Developers and users now have some access to explorer data, providing assurance that progress on infrastructure restoration is underway.

Whether this development will lead to a sustained period of reliability or represents only a temporary fix is not yet clear. However, those closely involved with Shibarium emphasized that the network continues to process transactions as normal, and a range of alternative tools is available to support ongoing activity during the explorer’s recovery.

Mazrael.shib advised users to rely on Shibwatch and ShibWallet as effective interim solutions while shibariumscan.io is restored, highlighting that the main Shibarium Layer 2 network has remained functional and continues to support transaction processing, despite the explorer disruptions and ongoing work on re-indexing.
