Shytoshi Kusama, lead ambassador for Shiba Inu, adjusted his X profile earlier in September, changing his bio to the single word “Polish” and his location to “close.” Kusama has not provided any public explanation for the change and remains inactive on X, with no posts or interactions since May 13. This shift has led the SHIB community to speculate about the meaning behind his quiet update, though no official statement or announcement has emerged.

Ambiguous social media update

The word “Polish” typically suggests the act of refining or perfecting a project. Some members of the Shiba Inu community believe this could indicate that Kusama is focused on finishing ongoing development work. However, without further clarification, it is unclear whether the profile edit relates to Shiba Inu or Kusama’s independent initiatives. Earlier this year, in February 2026, Kusama disclosed his involvement with an AI-powered relationship platform designed to help users identify trends and compatibility risks.

Despite the speculation, there are no current indications linking the recent profile changes to a specific project or development milestone in the Shiba Inu ecosystem. The SHIB community, known for parsing Kusama’s posts for hints, continues to monitor his updates closely without concrete information to act on.

“Polish, as it simply implies, means improving and refining something until it is near perfection; thus, the ‘polish’ update on X by Kusama might refer to final development work, but connecting it to Shiba Inu or an upcoming announcement would be speculative at this stage.”

Shibarium sees key infrastructure update

While high-profile communication remains minimal, behind-the-scenes development continues. Longtime Shiba Inu community member Mazrael confirmed that an RPC update for Shibarium has been implemented, with pull request PR #8699 officially merged into ethereum-lists/chains. Shibarium serves as Shiba Inu’s layer-2 blockchain designed to improve scalability and reduce transaction costs for the network.

Chainlist, the platform reflecting the update, is a widely used chain registry facilitating wallet and Web3 integration for various blockchains.

Token burn rate accelerates, but price falls

Shiba Inu’s token burn activity has increased dramatically, with the daily burn rate rising 301% in the past 24 hours. Millions of SHIB tokens have been sent to dead wallets, reducing the circulating supply. According to on-chain tracker Shibburn, 4.37 million SHIB tokens were destroyed in the last day, while 133.88 million SHIB tokens have been burned over the previous seven days.

Despite this increase in token burning, Shiba Inu’s price performance has lagged. As of publication, SHIB is trading at $0.0000052, reflecting a 1.57% decrease over the past 24 hours. The decline aligns with losses seen across the broader cryptocurrency market.
