Solana (SOL) holds a wide lead over Polygon (POL) on throughput, staked capital and developer numbers, according to analysis from @chainspect_app. The data points to a large gap in network scale between the two projects.

Throughput and Staked Security

@Solana recorded 1,895 transactions per second over a 30-day period, compared with 55.9 for @0xPolygon. The difference is even larger when measured by staked value. $SOL has $43.6 billion in validator capital staked, against $338 million for $POL. Valuations stand at $58.6 billion and $953 million, respectively.

Chainspect's live comparison page shows a similar pattern. It lists Solana's stake as roughly 107 times higher than Polygon's at the time of its snapshot, and puts Solana's Nakamoto Coefficient, a measure of how many validators would need to collude to disrupt a network, at 18 against 4 for Polygon. Chainspect also notes that Solana is a layer 1 blockchain, while Polygon is a sidechain.

The two networks are built differently. Crypto.com's explainer describes Solana as a monolithic layer 1 chain that combines Proof of History with Proof of Stake. It describes Polygon as an Ethereum scaling stack made up of layer 2 networks, sidechains and zero-knowledge rollups. That architecture means raw throughput on a single chain does not capture all of Polygon's activity.

Developer Activity and Polygon's Advantages

Solana also leads on builders, with 10,956 active developers compared with 1,831 for Polygon. Chainspect's comparison page shows a similar ratio, with Polygon having 83.26% fewer developers than Solana.

Polygon does hold a few advantages. Its entire $POL supply is already in circulation, which removes the overhang from future token unlocks. It also has more GitHub watchers, at 1,247.

On scale, however, the data favours Solana by a wide margin. Chainspect figures also show tradeoffs elsewhere. Polygon's finality time is shorter at 5 seconds, against 12.8 seconds for Solana on the same page.

Chainspect's figures change in real time, and the exact numbers vary by the time period measured. Readers should check the live data before drawing conclusions.
