This breakthrough has put $115 and $120 on traders’ radars as potential resistance zones. Previously, SOL had faced difficulty sustaining upward momentum beyond the $100 threshold.

Surge in derivatives market engagement

Trading volume for Solana derivatives expanded by 71.64%, reaching $12.17 billion. Open interest in futures contracts climbed 18.44% to $7.01 billion as market participants established fresh positions.

Options trading witnessed substantial growth as well. Volume for options contracts surged 120.5%, while open interest advanced 6.96% to $178.52 million.

Blockchain analytics revealed that over 40 million SOL tokens were transacted around the $100 price point. This concentration establishes the region as a significant entry level for numerous market participants.

Liquidation figures indicated robust leveraged trading throughout the price movement. Available data pointed to approximately $103 million in short position liquidations and $1.4 billion in long position clearances.

A social media update from analyst Ash Crypto emphasized SOL’s achievement of crossing $110 for the first time in seven months. The commentary characterized this development as favorable for token holders without specifying additional price objectives.

Investment product holdings exceed $1.42 billion

Solana-focused investment vehicles maintained substantial capital allocations. ETF holdings were assessed at $1.42 billion as of September 17.

Total cumulative inflows into these products stood at $1.37 billion, though daily movements remained neutral. Trading volume across products totaled $50.95 million.

Bitwise’s BSOL represented the largest allocation with $974.52 million in assets under management, having attracted $1.04 billion in aggregate inflows.

Regulatory activity also influenced recent market dynamics. Fresh CFTC cryptocurrency market regulations were forwarded to the White House for evaluation after the Senate failed to progress the CLARITY Act.

Bull Theory noted the CFTC submission in a social media post, explaining that the regulations were delivered to the White House soon after the CLARITY Act encountered procedural obstacles.

Currently, SOL maintains its position above the former $110 resistance zone, with $115 and $120 representing the next proximity levels according to available market information.
