Stablecoin Development Corporation disclosed in an October 5, 2026 SEC filing that it holds approximately 2.32 billion SKY tokens, roughly 10% of the Sky Protocol’s total token supply
The holdings were valued at approximately $180.2 million as of September 30, 2026, up from $119.2 million three months earlier
The company said it has not sold any SKY to date and has staked substantially all of its holdings in the Sky Protocol’s staking smart contract
Stablecoin Development Corporation, trading under the ticker SDEV, told the Securities and Exchange Commission in an 8-K filed October 5, 2026 that it held approximately 2.32 billion SKY tokens as of October 2, representing roughly 10% of the Sky Protocol’s total token supply.
The filing valued those holdings at approximately $180.2 million as of September 30, 2026, at a price of $0.07764 per token, up sharply from $119.2 million just three months earlier as both the token’s price and the company’s position size grew. Stablecoin Development Corporation said it accumulated about 34.6 million additional SKY tokens during the quarter purely through staking rewards, and emphasized that it “has not sold any SKY to date,” choosing instead to retain and redeploy all staking rewards earned back into the protocol’s staking contract.
SKY is the governance token of the Sky Protocol, the rebranded successor to the MakerDAO ecosystem that underpins one of decentralized finance’s largest stablecoin issuance systems. By staking substantially all of its SKY holdings rather than holding them idle, Stablecoin Development Corporation is generating an additional yield stream on top of any price appreciation in the token itself, a strategy that mirrors how other digital asset treasury companies have sought to put their holdings to productive use rather than simply warehousing tokens on a balance sheet.
The filing also disclosed that the company held $7.2 million in cash with no outstanding debt, giving it a clean balance sheet to support continued accumulation or staking activity without near-term refinancing pressure. Holding close to 10% of a major DeFi governance token’s total supply gives Stablecoin Development Corporation significant influence over Sky Protocol governance votes, a position that could matter as the protocol considers future parameter changes, new stablecoin products, or treasury allocation decisions.
The disclosure adds Stablecoin Development Corporation to a growing list of publicly traded companies that have built concentrated positions in specific DeFi governance tokens rather than pursuing the more common bitcoin- or ether-only treasury strategies. As more companies experiment with staking-based yield strategies on top of their token holdings, investors are increasingly parsing these quarterly updates not just for price exposure but for the underlying protocol economics, including reward rates and governance weight, that come with concentrated token ownership.
