@Strategy, led by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor (@saylor), has added another tranche of $BTC to its corporate treasury, purchasing 334 Bitcoin for approximately $28.7 million between October 1 and October 4, 2026, according to a regulatory filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Another Tranche, Another Milestone
The purchase was executed at an average price of roughly $85,839 per coin, according to the SEC filing. Funding came from two sources: $15.7 million drawn from net proceeds of MSTR stock sales and $13 million from the company's USD Cash reserves. The acquisition lifts Strategy's aggregate Bitcoin holdings to approximately 848,000 $BTC, with a total cost basis of around $63.97 billion at an average acquisition price of $75,441 per coin.
The latest buy is modest in size compared to some of Strategy's larger tranches earlier in the year, but it underlines the company's continued commitment to systematic accumulation. The firm reports its Bitcoin activity to U.S. regulators on a regular basis, typically disclosing purchases on Mondays via Form 8-K filings.
Dominant Corporate Holder, Evolving Funding Mix
Strategy, which rebranded from MicroStrategy in February 2025, has cemented its status as the world's largest publicly traded corporate holder of Bitcoin. The company uses a blend of equity issuance and cash reserves to fund its ongoing purchases, a capital structure model it has refined over several years. Its preferred stock products, including the variable-rate STRC instrument, have also played a role in raising capital to extend the treasury position.
The company's strategy remains straightforward: accumulate $BTC, measure performance through a metric called BTC Yield (the change in Bitcoin holdings per diluted share), and use institutional capital markets to fund further buying. As of early October 2026, Strategy holds roughly 4% of Bitcoin's fixed 21 million coin supply, a concentration that gives the firm outsized influence in the corporate crypto space.
With Bitcoin trading well above Strategy's blended average cost, the firm's treasury position carries a substantial paper gain, though the company has consistently framed its holdings as a long-term store of value rather than a trading asset.
