Gram wallet will handle routine activity, including holding Gram and transferring funds between people within Telegram. Users can also send Gifts, purchase Stars, and interact with Telegram apps through the simpler wallet. Consequently, both products serve different needs within Telegram.
Gram will occupy the place in Telegram’s settings previously held by Wallet, offering users a familiar entry point. Meanwhile, existing customers can reach the renamed platform through the @walt account on Telegram.
Walt will serve people seeking to trade, invest, and transfer assets between blockchain networks. Additionally, users can fund their Gram wallets through Walt, connecting its broader financial services with everyday payments.
Customers need no migration as Walt changes its name, logo, and social handles across its services. Their funds, settings, and account information will remain intact throughout the transition to the new identity. The original Telegram bot for buying Toncoin and Bitcoin now serves millions of users with hundreds of assets.
Walt plans to introduce crypto cards that would let customers spend digital assets in the real world. Moreover, it is developing conversational tools for examining markets, assessing portfolio risks, and finding trading opportunities.
According to Rogozov, those tools could also help users execute perpetual futures trades. However, Walt has not provided launch dates for the planned features that would expand its investment services.
Gram aims to introduce more Telegram users to crypto through simpler payments and transfers within the platform. Rogozov expects some of those users to explore Walt’s advanced products as their needs grow. The rebrand gives each product a distinct role, with Gram handling routine activity and Walt housing broader crypto services.
