2026 — After years of silence, Taler (TLR), the first Belarusian cryptocurrency, has announced its revival. A team of enthusiasts has not only redesigned the official website and launched a modern blockchain explorer but is also actively developing mobile wallets. However, the project’s main objective extends far beyond technology: to bring Slavic people together within a shared digital ecosystem.

Taler was originally launched in September 2017 by Belarusian enthusiasts Denis Lavnikevich and Sergey Lavrinenko. The cryptocurrency’s name refers to historical monetary units once used in the Belarusian territories, symbolizing a connection with the “golden age” of the country’s national history.

Initially, the project was conceived as a nonprofit initiative designed to demonstrate and test blockchain expertise. Today, however, its mission has become broader and more ambitious.

The Core Vision: Slavic Unity Through Blockchain

The revival of Taler is more than a technical upgrade. It is an attempt to create a shared financial platform for people who speak closely related languages and share common cultural roots.

The project’s team believes that cryptocurrency can become a bridge connecting Slavic nations beyond borders and political disagreements. Taler is intended to serve as a symbol of economic cooperation and mutual support across the Slavic world, offering a fast, transparent, and independent payment instrument for users in Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Serbia, Bulgaria, and other countries.

“We want Taler to become more than just a coin. We want it to become a meeting place for all Slavic people. Technology allows us to be closer to one another, and we intend to use blockchain for precisely this purpose: to unite rather than divide,” project representatives said.

Technical Upgrade and New Infrastructure

The project’s revival has been accompanied by several major technological improvements.

Hybrid Consensus

Taler has transitioned to a combined Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism. The PoW/PoS model is designed to improve network resilience and ensure a more democratic distribution of rewards.

The upgrade also makes coordinated attacks on the network more difficult while increasing the coin’s potential attractiveness to investors.

Faster Transactions

Block generation time has been reduced from five minutes to one minute, making the network faster and more convenient for everyday transactions.

ASIC Resistance

Thanks to the Lyra2z mining algorithm, Taler mining remains accessible to ordinary users. This approach is intended to prevent mining power from becoming concentrated in the hands of a small number of large operators.

Modern Services and Mobile Solutions

The cryptocurrency now has a fully updated infrastructure. A modern blockchain explorer has been launched, allowing users to monitor all network transactions in real time.

The team is also actively developing mobile wallets for iOS and Android. These applications are expected to make Taler as accessible and convenient as possible for a broader audience.

Plans and Future Prospects

Taler’s total supply is strictly limited to 23,333,333 coins, providing protection against uncontrolled inflation.

The project’s revival is taking place under favorable conditions. Belarus was one of the first countries in the post-Soviet region to establish a legal framework regulating cryptocurrency-related activities.

The official website, https://taler.tech, and the updated blockchain explorer, https://explorer.taler.tech/, are already available. The release of the mobile wallets is expected in the near future.

Taler (TLR) is a Belarusian cryptocurrency with a mission to unite Slavic nations through modern blockchain technology. It combines hybrid consensus, fast transactions, and accessible mining within a decentralized financial ecosystem.
