Crypto researcher BankXRP reported that large holders bought more than 470 million XRP within five days. The size and speed of those purchases raise an important question for XRP holders: do these large buyers expect a significant price move?

BankXRP sees the activity as more than routine accumulation and described the purchases as a “stockpile” while asking whether a breakout could follow.

BankXRP Reports 470M XRP Purchases

BankXRP shared the whale accumulation data on X and wrote, “XRP whales just scooped up 470M+ $XRP in 5 days.”

The researcher then separated the activity from ordinary accumulation, writing, “That’s not accumulation, that’s a stockpile. Breakout loading?”

The reported 470 million XRP represents a significant amount of the asset changing hands within a short period. At the $1.53 XRP price that commenter Blue referenced, 470 million XRP would equal roughly $720 million.

The five-day timeframe also adds context. Large holders bought the reported amount within roughly 120 hours, a pace that differs from the slower purchasing strategy investors often use when they build positions through regular dollar-cost averaging.

Questions Surround The Whale Purchases

The reported activity also prompted questions about where the whales purchased their XRP. Cardnal asked whether the buyers used over-the-counter markets and questioned where investors could find records of those transactions.

That question matters because the source of the XRP can help explain the market impact of the purchases. If whales bought XRP from exchanges and moved those tokens into private wallets, the available exchange supply could decline. However, BankXRP’s post does not establish whether the reported purchases came from exchanges, OTC markets, or other sources.

The accumulation also doesn’t confirm that the whales intend to hold their XRP indefinitely. Large holders can change their positions for several reasons, so investors need additional on-chain data to determine how the wallets behave after the purchases.

XRP Price Adds Another Dimension

Blue also referenced XRP’s $1.53 price and calculated that 470 million XRP represented roughly $720 million in value. The commenter also cited an RSI reading of 62 and said the indicator still had room before reaching traditionally overbought conditions.

Blue then asked which price level could trigger a larger move. That question places the reported whale activity alongside XRP’s technical setup and the market’s response to key price levels.

BankXRP’s “Breakout loading?” question presents a possibility rather than a confirmed outcome. Whale buying can provide useful information about large-holder activity, but purchases alone cannot confirm a breakout.
