Gold is at the center of another bold forecast, and one trader Tim Hack believes the correction in gold and silver has already run its course and now expects the gold price to reach $10,000 by January. He also believes silver could climb to $180 and oil could double from current levels.
For gold, that would be a huge move. The gold price is trading around $4,284.97. To hit $10,000, it would need to climb roughly 133% from here. That kind of target raises an obvious question: is the market gearing up for another major rally, or is gold still stuck in correction mode?
Trader Thinks the Gold Price Has Much More Room to Run
Hack’s argument is based on the idea that the recent correction has already finished. The gold price spent the past few years climbing from below $2,000 to nearly $4,800 before pulling back.
From his view, that pullback has set the foundation for the next move higher. If he’s right, gold wouldn’t just reclaim its previous high, it would more than double from where it trades today. It’s an eye-catching call. But the chart shows gold still has several hurdles to clear before anyone can seriously talk about five-digit prices.
The Gold Price Is Still Fighting Resistance
We had a look at the gold chart, and the first thing that stands out is that the gold price remains below a number of important resistance levels.

Gold is trading just under $4,300 after slipping 0.04% on the latest 4-hour candle. The immediate resistance zone starts at $4,300, then $4,400, and the psychological $4,500 level. Above those, traders are watching $4,600, $4,700, and eventually the previous high near $4,800.
The momentum picture is mixed. RSI is at 44.22, below neutral 50. The chart also shows several bearish divergences, meaning momentum has weakened compared to earlier rallies. At the same time, the Ultimate Oscillator is at 54.91, leaving room for buyers to regain control if resistance levels start to break.

Our Gold Price Outlook for the Coming Months
The long-term trend stays constructive as long as gold holds above the broader support between $4,000 and $4,200. Over the next few months, a move back above $4,500 would strengthen the bullish case and put the previous high near $4,800 back on the table.
Clearing that level would be a much stronger signal that the correction is over and a new leg higher is underway. That said, the chart doesn’t support a direct path to $10,000 yet. The gold price still needs to reclaim the resistance levels that have capped rallies since the pullback began.
Tim Hack’s forecast gives bulls a very ambitious target, but the market still has work to do first. The gold price remains above key support levels, yet the next major clue will likely come from how it reacts around $4,300 on the upside and $4,200 on the downside. Those are the levels traders will be watching most closely in the sessions ahead.
FAQs
Could gold reach $10,000 in the future
A move to $10,000 is possible in theory, but it would require the gold price to more than double from current levels and break through multiple major resistance zones along the way. Many analysts view that target as highly ambitious without additional catalysts.
Can the gold price reach a new all-time high
Yes. If gold breaks above $4,300 and continues through $4,500, the previous high near $4,800 could become the next major target.
