More than $1.11 billion worth of token unlocks are scheduled throughout October 2026, while several Web3 projects have reportedly ceased operations. These developments highlight two challenges facing the crypto industry: managing token supply and ensuring digital assets retain meaningful functions within their respective ecosystems.
Hyperliquid (HYPE) drew attention after unlocking approximately $340 million worth of tokens at the beginning of October. LayerZero (ZRO), Starknet (STRK), and Arbitrum (ARB) have also attracted market attention due to their token distribution schedules. An increase in circulating supply does not automatically lead to lower prices, but selling pressure may intensify when market demand fails to absorb newly available tokens.
Meanwhile, reports in October 2026 indicated that dozens to more than 100 crypto projects had ceased operations. These projects spanned decentralized finance (DeFi), infrastructure, and gaming. Limited funding, insufficient revenue, and security issues were among the factors contributing to operational shutdowns. When a project can no longer maintain its services, tokens that depend on its ecosystem may lose some of their intended utility.
In the property sector, AsetQu is developing a property tokenization concept using blockchain technology. This approach connects property assets with digital token representations, bringing attention to how tokenization can be applied beyond conventional crypto trading.
Through AsetQu Hub, the ecosystem also offers services designed for different property-related activities. PropriMarket serves as a marketplace, while PropriBid supports bidding activities. PropriVoucher provides voucher services, and Aset Academy offers educational resources on digital assets. Together, these services illustrate how digital platforms can support a range of activities within the property sector.
Blockchain applications in property are opening up new possibilities for digital assets to play a broader role beyond trading. By connecting tokenization with property-related services and activities, this technology offers another approach to developing digital asset ecosystems and expanding the ways blockchain can be applied across industries.
