The Open Network (TON), the blockchain closely tied to Telegram, is processing far more daily transactions than Bitcoin and Ethereum so far this month, according to data from @MSBIntel.

Since the start of October 2026, @ton_blockchain has averaged 4,035,776 transactions per day through October 24. Over the same period, $BTC averaged 717,029 daily transactions, while $ETH averaged 1,786,595. On those figures, TON handled roughly 5.6 times the transaction count of Bitcoin and about 2.3 times that of Ethereum.

How the October figure compares with TON's recent history

The October average is high relative to TON's recent baseline. Messari's overview of the network said daily transactions spiked above roughly 7 million during early 2025 surges, then stabilised around 1.5 million to 2.5 million per day . Another statistics tracker put daily on-chain transactions at about 2.16 million in recent snapshots.

More recent readings point to higher activity. Coinbase's Toncoin page cited approximately 3.6 million transactions as of the October 23 snapshot, with 431,817 active addresses . That is broadly in line with a month of elevated usage, though different data providers count and time-stamp activity differently.

TON's distribution model helps explain the volume. Messari describes the chain as focused on consumer distribution, with Telegram serving as its primary onboarding and application surface . Telegram mini apps, games and in-app payments tend to generate many small transfers.

Why transaction counts are not the whole story

Raw transaction counts measure activity, not value or economic weight. Bitcoin's network is built for settlement rather than high-frequency use, and it has seen busy days of its own. A recent report on Bitcoin usage noted that Bitcoin processed 893,391 transactions in one day, its fourth-highest daily total on record .

The same report cautioned that transaction count does not show whether a transfer represents buying or selling , because blockchains record movements between addresses rather than intent. The same logic applies to TON: a high count can reflect many small app interactions as easily as it can reflect growth in users or capital.

For investors and builders, the more useful signals are likely to be whether TON's active wallet numbers, fees and application revenue rise alongside transaction counts, and whether the October level holds beyond the month.
