Every project claims to have “the strongest community in crypto.” We set out to measure it. On September 28, 2026, we recorded for seven projects their social engagements over 24 hours (LunarCrush), the size and live presence of their Discord and Telegram servers, their subreddits and, above all, what their members actually did this year: votes, fundraising, events, code. The result: XRP leads on volume, Chainlink and Cardano follow, Kaspa and Qubic are the most mobilized small caps, and Dogecoin, with the largest audience of the seven, is not the most active. Here is the ranking, its criteria and its limits.

In Brief

  • XRP is the most active crypto community by volume: 13.1 million engagements in 24 hours and 3.2% social dominance on September 28, 2026, among the top five cryptocurrencies worldwide according to LunarCrush.
  • Chainlink has the largest Discord of the seven (111,365 members) and 6 million daily engagements; Cardano is the only one whose activity can be measured on-chain, with 135 DReps voting down the Cardano Summit budget in May.
  • Kaspa shows the best presence ratio: 4,043 members online out of 53,110 on Discord; Qubic has the second-largest Discord in the ranking (56,740 members) and funded its presence at a tech event through a community crowdfunding closed in 48 hours.
  • Dogecoin has the largest audience (4.4 million X followers, 2.6 million Reddit members) but an official Discord of 530 members and activity driven mostly by the Dogecoin Foundation.
  • Telcoin closes the ranking by volume but stands out for active governance on its forum; Shiba Inu and Hedera are treated separately, for opposite reasons.

How We Measured the Activity of a Crypto Community

An active community is measured by what it does, not by the number of followers it displays. We used four families of indicators, all recorded on September 28, 2026. Social engagements over 24 hours and social dominance, as published on the public pages of LunarCrush, which aggregates X, Reddit, YouTube and TikTok. The size and, more telling, the number of members online on official Discord and Telegram servers, read directly from public invitations. The size of subreddits (GummySearch data, updated between September 18 and 23). Finally, verifiable actions in 2026: governance votes, community fundraising, events, code contributions.

Two caveats. X followers and Reddit members are stocks accumulated over years; they measure an audience, not activity. And LunarCrush’s Galaxy Score, often quoted, mixes social signals with market data: a 35% price jump in a single day is enough to send it soaring, as the Hedera case shows.

1. XRP: The XRP Army Leads on Volume and on the Ground

With 13.1 million engagements in 24 hours and 3.2% social dominance on September 28, XRP ranks among the five most discussed cryptocurrencies in the world, behind Bitcoin, Solana and Ethereum. No other community in this ranking comes close: that is more than double Chainlink and nearly five times Dogecoin. The r/XRP and r/Ripple subreddits total more than one million members, and 1.1 million users follow the asset on CoinGecko.

The “XRP Army”, which became Ripple’s secret weapon against the SEC, also has a physical calendar of its own. XRP Las Vegas, a conference organized by community members rather than by Ripple, took place on April 30 and May 1, 2026. In October, XRPL week in New York strings together a developer bootcamp (October 20-22), a 36-hour hackathon (October 24-25) and the merged Swell and XRPL Apex conferences (October 27-29), which expect more than 1,500 attendees according to the official XRP Ledger calendar. The flip side of this intensity: weighted sentiment measured by Santiment hit its lowest point of 2026 in June. An active community is not always a satisfied one.

The “LINK Marines” do not make much noise on X (1.0% social dominance), but they are where the building happens. The official Chainlink Discord has 111,365 members, the largest of the seven, with 3,666 people online at the time of our snapshot, and the project shows 171 recent commits on GitHub, the most sustained development in the ranking. Chainlink also organizes its communities by region: Hong Kong, China, Korea, Southeast Asia, Vietnam, Thailand, India, Turkey, Portugal and Spain have official groups, listed on the project’s community page.

A 2026 change worth noting: Chainlink ended its Chainlink Rewards program, which distributed tokens from supported projects to LINK stakers. The June 26 blog post announces the evolution of the Build program after more than 80 supported projects, and the final claims, about $20 million in tokens, closed on July 7, according to the official post. The community remains; the direct incentive is gone.

3. Cardano: The Only Community Whose Votes You Can Count

Cardano is the only project in this ranking where community activity leaves an on-chain trace. In May 2026, delegates (DReps) rejected the request for 7.8 million ADA to fund the Cardano Summit: 65.21% in favor, below the 66.67% threshold, with 135 DReps representing 2.76 billion ADA, according to the Cardano Foundation’s May 30 announcement. The Summit was canceled. A community able to refuse money to its own conference is, at the very least, a community that votes.

In early September, the renewal of the Constitutional Committee was ratified by 69.36% of DReps and 51.18% of stake pool operators, against a 51% threshold, after several calls to vote from the official @Cardano account. On the ground, the Foundation’s first-year review of its events strategy, published in June, reports 20 events, more than 7,500 attendees, 1,139 developers reached and 855 sign-ups to its Academy, according to its June 2026 activity report. With 734,000 members on r/cardano and 2.6 million daily engagements, Cardano combines volume with measurable participation.

4. Kaspa: The Most Present Community, Without an Official X Account

Relative to its size, Kaspa is the most present community in the ranking. Its official Discord had 53,110 members on September 28, 4,043 of them online at the time of the snapshot, the highest figure of the seven; its official Telegram had 30,842 members, 1,126 of them online. On CoinGecko, 179,453 users follow KAS, with bullish sentiment at 91.9%. This base carried the Toccata hard fork, activated on June 30, 2026, which gave the network native contracts and ZK verification, a step in the roadmap we covered.

Two particularities. Kaspa no longer has a clearly identified official X account: the historic @KaspaCurrency account now describes itself as an “Unaffiliated commentary account” (bio read on September 28), and the most followed account, @kaspaunchained, with 237,000 followers, presents itself as community-run and non-representative. The community therefore carries its own communication. It also argues: in late September, an exploit on the Kasplex layer 2 revived public criticism from a co-founder about ecosystem governance, without affecting layer 1. A community that argues in public is, here too, a living community.

5. Qubic: The Second-Largest Discord and the “Qubic Maxis”

By market capitalization, Qubic should not appear in this ranking. By mobilization, it earns its place. With 100,000 followers on X, ten times fewer than Cardano, the project gathers 56,740 members on its official Discord, the second largest of the seven behind Chainlink, 3,342 of them online during our snapshot, and 18,361 members on Telegram. Its LunarCrush Galaxy Score of 73.8 is the second highest in the ranking, and 93.3% of CoinGecko users following it describe themselves as bullish.

Actions follow. In January 2026, the community itself funded Qubic’s presence at T3chFest in Madrid, Spain’s largest developer event: 6.97 billion QUBIC, about $4,880 at the time, raised in under 48 hours by more than 25 donors, with no project treasury involved, according to the account published on the official blog, whose title claims a spot secured “through pure community power.“

The community is also consulted on what comes next. The recap of the September 17, 2026 All-Hands puts a tokenomics proposal up for Discord feedback: buy QUBIC on the open market and burn it immediately, with a $1 million pilot split into two tickets of about $500,000 over 15 epochs, roughly three and a half months; the text also plans to repay investors 1.25 times their stake over twelve months. The same recap announces, within two weeks, a technical Q&A session open to the community on BPP-9000, the useful mining algorithm of Qubic that since the summer has rewarded the quality of solutions rather than their number.

On the ground, the campaign run with Alchemy Pay from July 29 to August 28 brought in 38 unique buyers for $12,613 worth of QUBIC, 72% of them from Europe, according to the same recap; a new wave is announced for October. On the developer side, the project reports 307 commits to its main branches in four weeks, across more than 20 repositories (a figure provided by Qubic, not comparable with Chainlink’s GitHub snapshot), launched a dedicated @QubicDev account on July 31, and released on August 4 a kit that lets developers test their smart contracts locally for free, according to the August 6 All-Hands recap. Weak spot: only 3,000 members on Reddit and 0.1% social dominance; activity remains concentrated on Discord.

6. Dogecoin: The Largest Audience, Not the Most Active

This is the surprise of the ranking. Dogecoin has the largest audience of the seven, 4.37 million followers on X and 2.6 million members on r/dogecoin, the biggest subreddit on this list. But measured activity does not follow: 2.7 million engagements in 24 hours, one fifth of XRP, 0.9% social dominance, and an official Discord server, the one linked from dogecoin.com, with 530 members, 95 of them online. The audience is huge; the mobilization is diffuse.

The highlights of 2026 in fact came from the top. On February 18, the Nasdaq bell ringing for the 21shares Dogecoin ETF came with a “#ChooseMyShibe” campaign credited with more than 1.2 million impressions, according to House of Doge’s press release. In April, MoonPay, the Dogecoin Foundation and House of Doge donated 1 million DOGE to an animal welfare fund. These are organizational operations, not grassroots initiatives. The Dogecoin community remains one of the most loyal in crypto; in 2026, it is no longer one of the most active.

7. Telcoin: A Small Community With Real Governance

Telcoin closes the ranking by volume, with 383,700 daily engagements, 112,000 followers on X, 19,000 members on r/Telcoin and two modest Discord servers (6,500 and 1,567 members). What sets it apart lies elsewhere: the Telcoin Association runs a governance forum where proposals are genuinely debated. The TEL token evolution proposal, published on June 29, had 41 replies and 3,384 views as of September 28; a September proposal on a telecom partnership had 45, according to the forum’s proposals section. Councils meet every two weeks on the Association’s Discord.

This community also had reasons to get excited in 2026: on June 23, Telcoin launched the first regulated on-chain bank accounts in the United States, under a Nebraska charter, a milestone we covered in June. Its Galaxy Score of 69.6, fourth in the ranking, points to a small but engaged community.

Two Special Cases: Shiba Inu and Hedera

The “Shib Army” is, on paper, one of the largest communities in crypto: 3.9 million followers on X, 552,000 members on r/SHIBArmy, 71,439 on Telegram. But its activity indicators are the weakest of the nine projects we examined: a Galaxy Score of 45.7, 55% sentiment, 1.1 million daily engagements, a Discord of 1,844 members, and a lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama, silent on X since May 13. A large community, barely active in 2026, according to LunarCrush data.

Hedera is the opposite case: the highest Galaxy Score of all, 88.0, on September 28. But that day, HBAR gained 35% in 24 hours, and the score reflects this rise as much as social activity. The “600,000 members” across platforms claimed on the project’s Community Hub are self-reported. The official Discord, with 13,096 members, 1,413 of them online, and the Hello Future Apex hackathon, with a $250,000 prize pool, are stronger signals, but not enough to place Hedera in the ranking with certainty.

What This Ranking Does Not Tell You

It captures a single day, September 28, 2026, and social engagements vary sharply with news and price. It does not distinguish human accounts from automated ones, a bias that affects every platform. It overlooks non-English communities, often active on channels that aggregators do not read, such as Chainlink’s regional Telegram groups or Qubic France. And it says nothing about the quality of a project or the direction of a price: a large community has never stopped an asset from falling.

The next measurable milestones are dated: XRPL and Swell week in New York from October 20 to 29, with its attendance figures, and, for Qubic, the outcome of the token buyback-and-burn proposal debated on Discord, followed by the October Alchemy Pay wave. We will update this ranking in the first quarter of 2027, using the same criteria.
