  • Turkey crypto activity is nearing $200 billion annually as currency pressure drives demand for regulated digital assets.
  • Garanti BBVA has expanded custody access while local exchanges distribute RLUSD to Turkish users and institutions.
  • Turkey's burgeoning digital-asset market is drawing in banks, custodians, and stablecoin companies with regulatory changes.

The growth of crypto activity in Turkey is being fueled by growing demand for stablecoins and institutional digital-asset infrastructure, driven by the pressure on the lira, rising adoption, and regulatory changes.

Market Demand Drives Infrastructure Expansion

BSCN reports Ripple is targeting Turkey as crypto demand grows under lira pressure. The post points to custody through Garanti BBVA and RLUSD distribution locally. It also cites nearly $200 billion in annual crypto transaction volume.

That activity reflects changing financial behavior across the Turkish digital-asset market. Retail crypto trading reached $40 billion during early 2026. The figure represented seven percent year-on-year growth, according to Ripple.

The lira’s ongoing pressure has supported demand for dollar-backed digital assets. RLUSD provides access to dollar-denominated liquidity through blockchain-based financial infrastructure. Ripple has expanded its availability through several Turkish platforms.

Turkey’s regulatory framework has also developed alongside rising market activity. The Capital Markets Board had crypto oversight authority as a result of Law No. 7518. Additional rules put in place licensing, capital, and anti-money-laundering rules.

Garanti BBVA Expands Digital Asset Custody

Ripple Custody is the digital-asset platform Garanti BBVA employs. It is responsible for the custody, transfers, and fiat on-ramp. It supports Bitcoin, Ether, and XRP.

The pilot was launched during 2023 and the service started then. Garanti BBVA later expanded the access to custody services to all its customers. This growth puts digital-asset storage into traditional banking systems.

It follows the new Turkish custody laws. New rules for custody came into effect in June 2026. Authorized providers therefore operate under increasingly defined compliance expectations.

XRP currently trades near $1.50, based on October 6 market data. Daily trading volume is above $1.9 billion across tracked markets.

RLUSD Broadens Dollar-Backed Market Access

RLUSD is now available through BiLira, Bitexen, and Bitlo. These partnerships extend dollar-backed liquidity across Turkey’s digital-asset ecosystem. Ripple announced the partnerships in June 2026.

RLUSD is designed for payments, tokenization, and collateral management applications. Ripple describes the stablecoin as regulated and fully backed. Its expansion therefore extends beyond conventional crypto exchange activity.

The combination of custody and stablecoin access strengthens Turkey’s financial infrastructure. The banks can offer asset storage and exchanges can expand dollar-backed liquidity. This establishes links between traditional and blockchain-based services.

The overall trend is to break the retail-led crypto adoption cycle. Institutions are increasingly entering through regulated infrastructure and financial partnerships. Turkey is consequently developing a more structured digital-asset market.
