Key Highlights
- Shares of Uber declined to approximately $72 on Wednesday following news of a €4.5 billion ($5.2B) maiden eurobond issuance
- The multi-tranche bond sale generated exceptional investor interest, attracting more than €21 billion in orders across five maturity periods spanning 3 to 20 years

Uber stock experienced a decline to approximately $72 during Wednesday’s morning trading session after Bloomberg disclosed that the transportation platform is securing €4.5 billion ($5.2 billion) via its inaugural eurobond issuance.
Uber Technologies, Inc., UBER
The financing arrangement consists of five separate tranches, featuring maturity dates that extend from three years to two decades. Market reception proved robust, as the issuance attracted total orders exceeding €21 billion.
This marks another chapter in Uber’s debt financing strategy. The company previously secured $2.25 billion via senior notes in September 2025, and completed a $1 billion senior note transaction in May of the same year.
The current fundraising effort directly supports Uber’s substantial $10 billion allocation toward autonomous taxi technology. The strategic initiative involves purchasing self-driving vehicle fleets and acquiring equity positions in companies developing autonomous transportation systems.
After divesting its proprietary autonomous driving division in 2020, Uber is now accelerating efforts to regain ground in the sector. The company recently inaugurated its inaugural European robotaxi operation in Zagreb, Croatia last month.
Additionally, Uber has formed a strategic alliance with UK-based autonomous technology company Wayve to deploy London’s first self-driving taxi service.
To balance expenses amid this aggressive investment phase, Uber implemented a 10% reduction in its global employee base and has increasingly adopted artificial intelligence solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
The significant capital deployment hasn’t hindered operational expansion. During the second quarter of 2026, Uber’s gross bookings climbed 24% compared to the prior year, reaching $58 billion.
This robust performance reinforces the optimistic sentiment among Wall Street analysts regarding the stock. The consensus rating stands at Strong Buy, supported by 30 Buy recommendations and four Hold ratings issued within the last three months. The mean price target of $103.83 suggests potential appreciation of approximately 44% from present trading levels.
A significant insider transaction also caught attention. Chief Operating Officer Andrew Macdonald made a substantial purchase of 70,000 shares on September 4, investing a total of $5.3 million.
Delivery Hero Leadership Endorses Acquisition Terms
Regarding corporate transactions, Delivery Hero announced that both its management and supervisory boards have expressed support for Uber’s $14.8 billion acquisition offer and are advising shareholders to approve the transaction.
Uber publicly revealed the acquisition agreement in July following a strategic accumulation of shares in the German food delivery enterprise, ultimately becoming its principal shareholder prior to initiating official negotiations.
According to Delivery Hero’s boards, the merger “has the potential to accelerate product innovation and create additional opportunities for employees, customers, merchants, riders, drivers, and other stakeholders.”
Technology investment firm Prosus, which maintains an ownership position in Delivery Hero, plans to divest its remaining shares to Uber as part of the transaction agreement.
Wall Street analysts currently maintain an average price target of $103.83 for Uber, while the stock was trading around $72 as of Wednesday morning.
