Uniswap Moves Beyond Trading
@Uniswap Labs has officially launched "Earn," a new self-custodial yield product embedded directly within the Uniswap Web App and Wallet. The feature marks a meaningful expansion for the protocol, which has historically been known as a trading venue rather than a place to put idle capital to work.
Uniswap, the largest decentralized crypto exchange by trading volume, is expanding beyond trading with the launch of Earn, a new product built with Morpho, the second-largest decentralized lending protocol.
The product lets users deposit $USDC, $USDT, and $ETH into three Gauntlet-curated Morpho vaults, where the assets are lent to borrowers through Morpho's lending markets. The interest paid by borrowers becomes the yield earned by depositors.
How the Infrastructure Works
The product uses three Gauntlet-curated Morpho vaults and allows users to deposit and withdraw instantly while keeping full custody of their assets. That combination of instant liquidity and retained custody addresses two concerns that have historically pushed retail users toward centralized alternatives.
The vault infrastructure is powered by @Morpho and risk-managed by @Gauntlet, a firm that specializes in quantitative risk frameworks for DeFi protocols. By bringing in an established risk curator, Uniswap is effectively applying a layer of institutional-grade oversight to what remains a permissionless, on-chain product. The result is a yield experience that sits squarely within the Uniswap ecosystem, requiring no third-party app or bridge.
The launch comes as Uniswap continues to broaden its product suite. The protocol recently brought its v2, v3, and v4 pools to Robinhood Chain, and introduced the DualPool hook to allow market makers to earn lending yield on inventory between swaps. Earn extends that same logic to ordinary users.
