Five Chains, One Token
@USDai_Official has extended its dollar-pegged stablecoin USDai and its yield-bearing counterpart sUSDai to five blockchains: Arbitrum, Ethereum, Plasma, Base, and Solana. The expansion uses LayerZero's Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard, which means the assets travel between networks as the same canonical token rather than wrapped copies.
Transfers run on the OFT standard. A token issued under it can cross from one blockchain to another without becoming a knockoff version of itself on arrival. In practice, a token built as an OFT exists natively on every chain it supports. When you send it cross-chain, the token is burned on the source and minted on the destination. This keeps total supply consistent and eliminates the fragmented liquidity that has historically plagued wrapped-token bridges.
Before this launch, USDai and sUSDai lived only on EVM-compatible chains. The protocol already used LayerZero for cross-chain movement within that family. Solana does not run the EVM, so reaching it means stepping outside that ecosystem entirely.
Yield Backed by AI Infrastructure
sUSDai is the staked version of USDai. Holders lock up USDai and receive a token that earns yield, which comes from interest paid on loans the protocol issues. Those loans finance GPU hardware for AI data centers, connecting the stablecoin's yield directly to demand for artificial intelligence compute.
At launch, USD.AI lined up integrations with six Solana DeFi protocols: Jupiter Lend, Kamino, Orca, Loopscale, Exponent, and Mezzanine.Roughly $9.39 million in bridged sUSDai and $372,000 in trading volume arrived within hours rather than weeks.
The stablecoins now support cross-chain transfers on Solana, Arbitrum, Ethereum, Plasma, and Base. LayerZero reported that cumulative cross-chain transfer volume facilitated through its OFT standard has surpassed $2 billion. For context, LayerZero's OFT standard now handles 87% of all cross-chain token transfer volume, managing about $44 billion in assets across more than 100 blockchains.
