Vanguard has increased its stake in Peter Thiel-backed Bitcoin treasury company Strive (Nasdaq: ASST), expanding its indirect exposure to Bitcoin through one of the fastest-growing corporate holders of the asset.

The Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund (VTSAX) added 269,200 Strive shares, bringing its total position to 1.98 million shares worth about $23.7 million, according to BitcoinTreasuries.NET.

The move came weeks after Vanguard advertised its first head of digital assets role on July 6, signaling broader engagement with the sector even as it maintains its long-standing opposition to launching a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund.

"The world is beginning to own Bitcoin and not even know it," Joe Burnett, director of Bitcoin strategy at Strive, wrote on X, commenting on Vanguard's latest filing.

Strive keeps buying Bitcoin as peers slow down

Founded in 2022 by former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, Strive is backed by billionaire investors including Peter Thiel, Bill Ackman and Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale.

The company completed its acquisition of Semler Scientific on Jan. 16, 2026, becoming the first publicly traded asset management Bitcoin treasury company.

It has since expanded its Bitcoin holdings to 20,000 BTC as part of its strategy to increase Bitcoin per share.

Unlike some of the sector's largest players, Strive continues adding to its holdings. On July 27, the company disclosed it had purchased 79 Bitcoin between July 20 and July 24 at an average price of $65,723 per coin.

The purchase came as Strategy, the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holder, reported it had neither bought nor sold Bitcoin for a third consecutive week.

Strive CEO Matt Cole has repeatedly said the company intends to continue accumulating Bitcoin, describing it as the firm's primary capital allocation strategy.

At the time of writing, Strive shares traded at $11.27, down 7.23% on the day, while Bitcoin changed hands at around $63,840.
