We Asked 3 AI Models to Predict the Next Crypto to Explode

The crypto market has pumped more than 10% over the past week, with total market cap reaching roughly $2.67 trillion as the Bitcoin price reclaimed $80,000 for the first time since May. 

The catalyst has been largely macro-driven: the U.S. Treasury plans to double long-dated bond buybacks to $4 billion per operation, weakening the dollar and pushing investors toward alternative assets. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs also pulled in about $1.92 billion last week, giving the rally a strong institutional component.

The move has spread into altcoins. XRP is up 46.97% over seven days, Ethereum 29.19%, Solana 27.63% and Cardano 22.79% in the market snapshot used for this analysis. But with the Crypto Fear & Greed Index around 80 and Bitcoin facing liquidation thresholds near $82,648 and $74,858, chasing the biggest coin after a rally carries plenty of risk. 

So we asked ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok a more specific question: which established or mid-cap cryptocurrency has the best realistic chance of delivering the largest percentage return over the next six to 12 months?

How We Asked AI to Find the Next Crypto to Explode

We did not ask the models to simply name their favorite cryptocurrency. The definition of “explode” was set as the coin with the strongest realistic chance of delivering an outsized percentage return over six to 12 months. 

Each model had to consider price action, market capitalization, volume, on-chain activity, tokenomics, upcoming catalysts, institutional interest, ecosystem growth and the risks that could derail the thesis.

The models were also told to examine a broad selection instead of defaulting to Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP or Cardano. That matters because BTC has already gained about 28% in August, and XRP is up almost 47% in seven days. The question was therefore about percentage upside from here, not which asset has the strongest brand or deepest liquidity.

The market backdrop was another part of the test. The Bitcoin price has reclaimed the $80,000 area, ETF inflows have returned, and Treasury bond buybacks have created a liquidity-driven risk-on environment. 

Also, Jackson Hole begins on August 27, making Federal Reserve policy a major risk for the rally. That leaves smaller cryptocurrencies with more upside potential, but also greater exposure to a market-wide reversal.

ChatGPT’s Pick for the Next Crypto to Explode

ChatGPT selected Hyperliquid (HYPE), based on the combination of protocol usage, revenue and token economics. HYPE was around $80.77 in the supplied market snapshot, giving it a market capitalization near $18 billion. That is far below Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP, but large enough to have established liquidity.

The strongest part of the HYPE thesis is the connection between network activity and the token. The key requirements include a confirmed technical breakout, continued DeFi liquidity growth and a favorable macro environment.

SUI does carry more token-supply risk than HYPE. The supplied analysis puts circulating supply at about 4.07 billion SUI, or roughly 41% of total supply. That means future unlocks can create additional selling pressure if network demand does not grow fast enough.
