Teucrium has postponed the effective date of an exchange-traded fund designed to profit from declines in XRP for the 19th time, creating an unusual contrast in a U.S. market where leveraged bullish XRP products are already trading.

The latest filing moves the effectiveness of the Teucrium 2x Short Daily XRP ETF to Oct. 11, 2026. The product is designed to deliver approximately twice the inverse of XRP's daily performance, meaning a 1% decline in XRP would theoretically translate into roughly a 2% daily gain before fees and other tracking effects.

But Oct. 11 should not be treated as a confirmed trading launch. The filing concerns when the registration statement becomes effective, with the proposed public offering expected only “as soon as practical” afterward.

Why Does the XRP Short ETF Keep Getting Delayed?

That is the obvious question, but the filings provide no clear answer.

SEC records show Teucrium repeatedly using Form 485BXT to designate new effective dates for the fund. A July filing, for example, stated that its “sole purpose” was to delay effectiveness, moving the date at that point to Aug. 16. Similar postponements appear throughout 2026.

The latest reported postponement takes the tally to 19 since April 2025.

Crucially, there is nothing in those delay notices saying the SEC rejected the ETF or ordered Teucrium to postpone it. They also do not identify liquidity, regulatory concerns or insufficient investor demand as the reason.

That makes explanations about why the ETF has not launched speculation unless Teucrium provides additional information.

The Long XRP Fund Is Already Trading

The stranger part is what happened on the other side of the trade.

Teucrium's 2x Long Daily XRP ETF, XXRP, is already operating. Its prospectus says the fund seeks twice XRP's daily price performance.

The product remained actively traded on Sept. 11, when XXRP closed at $30.96 on volume of nearly 796,000 shares. Its portfolio included substantial XRP futures exposure.

Teucrium also does not appear to have quietly erased the short product from its plans. An investment advisory agreement dated Aug. 4 lists both the 2x Long Daily XRP ETF and the 2x Short Daily XRP ETF, each with a 1.89% advisory fee.

That leaves an unusual setup: the bullish leveraged product exists, while its bearish counterpart keeps moving further into the calendar.

XRP ETF Demand Adds Another Twist

The delay is happening as XRP becomes increasingly established inside U.S. investment products.

U.S. spot XRP ETFs recently recorded persistent inflows even while XRP itself struggled around the mid-$1.30 range. Coinpaper tracked $14.38 million of inflows on Sept. 1, extending an 11-session streak, while more recent data showed XRP funds outperforming Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana ETFs during another risk-off session.

Institutional ownership has grown as well, with Goldman Sachs, Jane Street and Millennium Management appearing among major disclosed XRP ETF holders.

An SEC filing explicitly designated a new effective date for the fund.

The next date to watch is therefore Oct. 11. But after 19 postponements, the more important question is not simply when the fund can become effective.

It is whether Teucrium will finally allow investors to trade the other side of XRP.
